Walking through the doors of this restaurant felt like a mini-vacation to Vietnam, minus the airfare and jet lag. The space is inviting, spotless, and filled with the mouthwatering aroma of simmering spices that whispered, “You’re in for something good.” I opted for the pho combo - brisket, tripe, meatballs, and, theoretically, tendon. The brisket was tender, the tripe pleasantly chewy (as it should be), and the meatballs had that signature bouncy texture. The tendon, however, was playing an impressive game of hide-and-seek. If it was in there, it deserves an Oscar for Best Disappearing Act. The broth was light, clean, and not too salty; a promising start. That said, it could’ve used a touch more personality. A little more depth, a little more seasoning, a little more oomph to really transport me. Right now, it’s more polite than punchy. Still, it’s clear the kitchen knows what it’s doing. With a bit more boldness in the broth, this place could go from great to unforgettable.

Pho 96 has been open two months, and it's a great addition to the Poughkeepsie dining scene. There are eight tables and the vibe is casual and welcoming. We came for lunch and had a combo pho and the grilled pork bánh mì. The sandwich was killer, perfect bread, tasty meat and pickled vegetables; best I've found in the surrounding area. Pho is meant to be enjoyed freshly made so you have to eat in. Delicious. We also had the yummy lemongrass tofu appetizer. Will be back to try more soon! Edit: Just tried the vegan banh mi and it was delicious too! It did have fresh jalapeno slices so you could ask to leave off if that's not your style.

The food is very good and authentic taste. The staffs are very friendly and nice. Even the sign said closed at 8pm, so many people came at 7:45pm and the owners still welcoming the customers and serve them. I will definitely come back and try the Pho and other food.

WOW, this is the best pho I ever had. Ive been craving pho recently and was in the area for a doctor's appointment. The key to a good pho is it's broth, and the flavor was top notch. I used to live in a predominately Asian area in NJ and the pho places there dont touch the pho here. I made my own pho with sliced beef, shrimp, and fish balls, and all of the fillings were so fresh and cooked perfectly. Make sure you add the basil, bean sprouts, lime, and chili oil to maximize the flavor. The owner was so so sweet and the food came out quickly. I will...
