Vera Pizzeria — Restaurant in Town of Poughkeepsie

Great food. I have called this place upwards of 5 times and they NEVER answer the phone. Could be my luck but it’s frustrating nonetheless. I gave 2 stars for service because there’s a young woman who works here and every single time I order it seems like she carries attitude. You walk in and you’re greeted with her RBF,not a smile, not a hey how can I help you. She does at least seem to say thank you after you pay but I get the feeling she’s either being forced to work here or she’s just a young woman who isn’t a people person which is absolutely fine, but don’t punish customers because of your pissy attitude. Generally speaking, the younger the person here is that’s helping you the ruder and less comfortable you feel. All the adults from the owner to his family that hangs out there are nice people. IF you don’t like an environment where there may be kids hanging out on their iPads or running around enjoying those carefree years I recommend TJ’s pizza in the city of PK. Just be careful of the “undesirables” mulling around...

Pizza is very good, especially Nonna's Pizza with Mozzarella and Basil. The salads are nothing special, iceberg lettuce and not much more. The thing that really bothered me about Vera's is the appearance and cleanliness of the restaurant. Everything from the floors to the candy machines need a good cleaning, not what you want to see from a place you will be eating from. Even the ceiling and lights are dirty (dead bugs stuck in the florescent lights). Could use an update as well! I'm guessing they don't have AC because it seems the doors are always opened when its warm, which in turn attracts a lot of flies. I swear a fly flew out of my pizza box when I brought it home! yuck! Also, since they have no AC the staff when I went in was sweating, dripping sweat....all I can think is oh god I hope that's not dripping into my pizza! If I had never stepped foot in the restaurant and just had the pizza I would say its a good place but knowing how dirty the place is, I don't think I will be getting pizza from...

I was in Poughkeepsie for a Doctor's appointment and wanted to get a quick lunch somewhere close by. I found Vera pizza on line. It looked good and was less than a mile from the doctor. I wanted pizza but when I got there and saw how reasonable the prices were I ordered the Eggplant Rolotini dinner with a side of Garlic Knots. The Dinner came with Bread and Salad, the portion was huge and it was $13. The garlic knots were so soft and really tasty. The Marinara sauce was excellent. It was a beautiful day so I sat outside at a picnic table. They brought everything out to me when it was ready. The owners and staff were very nice, efficient and accomodating.
