Looking to relax over a meal and a few drinks and have a nice evening? Don't go here. They are on a mission to "move the chattel." Get you in, get your money, push you out, bring in the next money source. We told the waitress from the start that we were going to hang out for a while, have some drinks, have some appetizers, before ordering the meal. Every 5 minutes -- are you ready to order? Are you ready to order your meals? Have you decided what you want for dinner? Every. Five. Minutes. And each time, reminded her that no, we were taking it slow. Except when you needed a drink refill, then hurry up and wait for her to come back around. Even though you're paying big for those alcoholic drinks and beers. Oh!! And THEY CHARGE for soda refills!! $1.50!! Who the hell charges for soda refills after 1982?? At some point the push tactics stepped up, telling us that despite it being 5:30 (not exactly Friday night rush hour) it was going to take an hour to make two burgers. So you know, HURRY UP AND ORDER. Don't even think about having a concern or god forbid complaint about anything -- the owner is a vain and hostile person who will fight with you about how amazing he and his restaurant are and YOU are the problem, rather than try to fix whatever the issue is. Especially when HE was the issue to begin with. I'm not the only one saying this -- read the other reviews. Read the review by the woman who was so physically intimidated by him that she left without finishing half of her mediocre, overpriced food because she had to get away from his menacing glaring at her while she ate, after having voiced a concern. And if you sit upstairs next to the first floor roof overhang, your view will be all the lunch trash left their by roofers that this owner never bothered to clean up. And I mean soda cans, bottles of juice, greasy food wrappers -- yeah great view and so appetizing. The chairs are small and hard -- but then again they don't want you to get comfortable and hang out so no surprise. The macaroni bites were fine, but you get 6, whereas other restaurants for the same price will give you at least 10. Also, the taste was fine, but inside there was just melted cheese, no macaroni, no bacon as indicated on the menu. Due to the owner's rudeness, we left and never ordered those meals we were asked about 10 times, because we were clearly screwing up their...
Read moreImpulsive stop to have a quick burger from a supposedly better quality establishment than the average fast food ones. My brother and I visited on Friday, May 3, 2024 at around 6 pm. We were seated downstairs right by the fireplace. Orders were placed within five minutes of being seated. The wait for the actual food was around 1 hour. When my brother finally asked how much longer, our waitress said that there were 30 tables upstairs and they only had two grills….. Our burgers finally came, they looked good so we happily dove into them. After cutting mine in half, I took a bite of my Avocado Burger (without the picante sauce as I requested). I paused and looked closer at the thing….. the meat looked grey, not the char grilled meat patty that I expected. The avocado was spread over, not in actual avocado pieces; so now I’m even doubting if it was some kind of a paste they use instead of a real avocado. The waitress came over to check up on us and asked how the food was. I looked up and just smiled, as I didn’t want to be rude. She must have interpreted my expression though so I said that the meat didn’t taste like real burger meat and that it had no flavor. She told me that they use three kinds of different beef parts mixed together. Internally I shuddered over that. To me the meat looked like the cook just took out a frozen patty and heated it up on the grill without really grilling it as we would. Truly disappointed, I barely finished the first half and left the other one uneaten on my plate. My brother had the JD Burger and although he agreed about the meat patty being bland, his burger also came with bacon so that partially made up for his dining experience. What can I say?? Brothers… sigh. However considering the fact that the establishment is touting a quality burgers/wings dining experience, it is way overstated and overpriced. Our bill, for two burgers, one with French fries and one with sweet potato fries (no beverages, just water) came to $46.76. For these kind of prices, I’ll happily go to Outback or Double O Grill and at least enjoy the food that I order. I will not go to 21 Burgers again. ...
Read moreI am posting this in reference to 21 Burger in Poughkeepsie on Rt44! We enjoy going and having dinner there, the food is amazing however that being said they aren’t child friendly!
They have no milk for children and don’t allow any outside food into the resturant even if it’s for children with a special diet as we were told when we sat down with our four year old grand-nephew and were told no outside food was allowed in the resturant! Maybe they thought his mom was going to eat the food, I don’t know but the manager came over in front of everyone to tell us the food wasn’t allowed ! Instead of standing back and watching to see the situation.
Also… Be advised there isn’t a child menu!
When I called and mentioned it to the manager she said you should have called first and said you were bringing the child’s food and he had allergies. I said well I’m sorry but you don’t have anything on the website saying we should call or anything on the menu to tell us before she started feeding him. I’m very disappointed and actually his parents were more surprised because anywhere they dine with him they have never been told they werent allowed to bring food for their child that has special dietary needs.
When I called to express my disappointment I was really only calling to provide feedback because we really enjoy going to dine there before this embarrassing experience and thought they would appreciate the feedback but instead i was asked in a rude way “what would you like me to do about it? This is our policy”
Needless to say, I am very dissapointed in the experience and even more dissapointed in the lack of understanding and compassion from management...
