Characters — Restaurant in Town of Ramapo

Can honestly say I will not be returning here. Arrived at 815pm. Waited 15min with no one coming to seat us (another person was also waiting behind us). Had to go to the bar to ask them to send someone over. Was finallt sat and told kitchen was closing in 30min. Placed our orders. Once our food was dropped, we never saw our server again. Had to get the attention of them just to get a refill. Waited for her to come back so we could ask for to go boxes...nowhere to be seen. We're watching other servers close up the dining room so we finally ask one of them to bring us some boxes and the check. We're brought 1 box and no check. Asked another person for a 2nd box and the check. Was brought the box and check, but no pen. Had to ask for that as well. Went to say goodbye to some friends at a neighboring table for about 2minutes and in that time a server threw my food away. When I went to get it, I was told it was too late and it was in the trash. My original waitress tells me to hold on, proceeds to come out with my box that she dug OUT OF THE TRASH and ask if I want it back....I said no, it was in the trash. "But it was covered..." she says. Then proceeds to explain the waitress was not at fault for throwing my food away bc she didn't see me. Which is fair...except I hadn't even left the dining room yet. The waitress proceeded to give me attitude when I was clearly not willing to take my food that had been dug out of the trash. If you were so quick to close up and get everyone out on time, maybe you should be more attentive and get those people sat in a more timely manner and make sure you pay attention to them so they can leave when you close. I've been a server for many years, that's not how you handle things. I would never take someone's food out of the trash and offer...

Sigh..... disappointment alert ⚠️ I would avoid this place and don't believe the hype/ crowds.

Since moving to the area my fiancé and I always had this restaurant on our list to visit since it always seemed crowded and the reviews were decent.

Fast forward 3 years later, we finally decided to stop in since it was Friday and there were a few visible parking spots.

Upon entering there were no tables available but we were seated immediately outside (no one else outside at the time). We stated that was fine, as long as they "didn't forget about us". The staff was really friendly and took our order pretty quickly which was great, but then things went downhill.

We ordered pizza, burgers, salad and an entree. The pizza came out after about 25 mins which was okay and was nice and really thin/ crunchy which is hard to find. They forgot to give us appetizer plates and forgot about us so we had to eat without any napkins etc. After about what seemed like 40 mins they brought out the salad which was absolutely disgusting since the "balsamic dressing " looked like a thick light brown gravy. At that point I was finally able to request plates, napkins etc. They brought out the plates and they all looked improperly cleaned with clearly visible food residue! GROSS! Besides the constant (3x) we heard dishes breaking inside and the random weird scent of sewer, we reached our breaking point and just couldn't stomach even staying there any longer. We sat there for over an hour and our burgers were still not ready, so we promptly requested the check and high tailed it out of there. Between the sanitary concerns and ridiculous wait times for simple meals..... yeah this place has a lot of "character" alright. Maybe we caught them on an "off day", but we have no intentions of ever returning...

Cute place and seems to be local's favorite. But giving it a 4 star because of the service. Servers were great, young but very nice and friendly, but the hostess made the experience much less enjoyable. She left us standing there wondering while she finished a casual conversation while directly looking at us, maybe it wasn't her best day. But still, at least acknowledge customers and mention that you would be right with them, and not just leave them standing there wondering if you even work there. Now to the good part - portions are pretty big and very tasty. We had mainly salads and some wings, but all was fresh and tasted really good. They did forget a few things we ordered but it wasn't worth to fuss over. Lots of school or college kids work there so if you are looking for a great service, probably best to lower your expectations. But if you are just looking to grab a quick bite that is decently portioned - hive them a try. There is a bar inside and we have noticed that people order take out here...
