Writing this review to share some of the hard and painful truths about Roscoe Beer Company.
First and foremost, the food they serve is horribly overpriced. Paying $15 for a very basic cheeseburger that is at most 1/4 pound is obscene, AND it only includes chips (not fries). Cost and quality wise, you would do much better to bring your meal from McDonalds. I do realize that Roscoe, NY is a tourist destination, yet they take full advantage of YOU by providing inferior food options at a premium price. If you pay $15 or more for a burger outside of a major city in the USA, it damned well better be at lease 1/2 pound of a premium quality beef.
Second, yet more painful, Roscoe Beer Co. used to brew a beautiful, clean and clear example of a West Coast IPA in their Eagle IPA. It was the perfect representation of what a WC IPA should be, and rivaled that of even Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Unfortunately, they have bastardized this beer by making it hazy and yet still calling it a West Coast Style IPA (compared to a New England style Hazy IPA). I am upset and offended by their decision to degenerate what was their previous best beer in their line. ...
Read moreStopped in July 4th. There's a small bar that you cannot sit at. You have to stand in line to order a drink then head to a table. The menu was limited to five items written on a board. Fries with cheese. Fries without cheese. Fries with or without cheese, Hot Dog with cheese, Hot Dog without cheese and fried cauliflower. During my twenty minute stay the line was eight deep and three food items were removed from the menu. Bartender announced it would take forty five minutes for "food".. then stopped taking food orders announcing people could go elsewhere and buy food and bring it back. I sat at a high top beside the "bar". When I ordered a second beer the bartender told me I'd have to get on line like everyone else.Ain't happening, I said, he served me where I was. Think he was joking anyway. A lot of disappointed looking people standing in a line for ten minutes for a drink to find there was no food available. And of course the obligatory tip jar was in your face on the bar despite it being a self service ten minute wait on line for a beer....
Read moreFirst visit- Nov 2024 Okay- brewery. I've had better craft beers. Their on-site kitchen is convenient and okay. The garlic parm truffle fries had clumps of fresh raw garlic (which was great for garlic lovers like us), and not a lot of parmesan. The menu says shaved parm, but it was like shaker parmesan. Also stated garlic aioli drizzle, which our order was lacking. The caprese sandwich was very tasty- perfect even. The steak sandwich was okay, standard and did include the garlic aioli.
They do have flights, but they don't right down what you order so it was just a guessing game on which beer you liked. Has a fish tank with trout. Loved that feature.
Second Visit- May 2025 Had a better experience than the last. Staff was nicer, and their beer tasted better this time around. The staff didn't write down what we got on the flights, but told us exactly which one was what so it was easier to remember. Still love the fish tank at the...
