Ok so I haven’t been to town in like 5 years. I got fired, burned down a motel and moved to the west coast. But I’m back now and made the decision to stop at Cal’s (I would’ve stopped months ago but the parking lot is always full), long story short it was the best decision I’ve made since betting Kanas to come back against UNC in the national championship game a few years back.
The place is clean, super clean. The Queen of England herself would be honored to diner in such sanitary conditions. Great job by the ownership group and staff.
Service: honestly, I felt like I was at The French Laundry in Napa, CA, it was so professional and flawless with the way Cathy so gracefully weaving in and out of tables and behind the bar keeping 2 steps ahead of everything going on in front of her. If service was like painting, I feel like I watched DaVinci paint the Mona Lisa himself.
Food: every restaurant in the tri county area needs to get the memo and order bread from wherever Cal’s gets their bread. I had the patty melt which made me melt into my barstool. So brilliantly seasoned that I’m embarrassed to even make a patty melt by myself anymore. Also, the fries came out crispy, hot, salted to perfection.
Libations: 3 Busch Lites from the tap. Cold, well carbonated, and poured (by Cathy) like it was on the set of a Hollywood studio for a Busch Lite commercial. Seemed like everyone was well hydrated.
Miscellaneous: Needs some White Sox stuff on the walls. Michelle (statuesque beauty, a modern day Aphrodite).
Overall, it was the perfect dining experience and will be back with regularity.

If you're looking for a place that feels like home the moment you walk in, look no further. This bar and restaurant is everything a neighborhood spot should be — warm, inviting, and filled with energy.
The staff here? Top-notch. From the moment we sat down, we were treated like family. They're quick with a smile, know the menu like the back of their hand, and genuinely care that you're having a great time.
But the real star of the show is the owner. You can feel the passion in every detail — from the way the place is run to how often the owner checks in with guests personally. This isn’t just a business to them; it’s a calling. You can tell they’re committed to the community and love what they do.
Food and drinks? Consistently awesome. Whether you're grabbing a burger and a beer or trying something new off the specials, it hits the spot every time. The bar is well-stocked, the vibe is just right, and there's always a buzz in the air that makes you want to stay a little longer.

Read moreWe decided to head to Cal's Corner for their burgers because someone told us they have delicious burgers . Well, they didn't disappoint us !!! My 1/2 lb burger was delicious . Came with lettuce , tomato , onion and I added cheese for additional charge, I also asked Kent , the owner , if I could have a bake potato for 2.00 extra instead of fries . My hubby had their famous 4 piece broasted chicken dinner . He said his meal was so delicious ! It was so nice to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine . Kent was nice to put up the umbrella for us so we sat in partial shade . Their resturant is nice and clean too . Looks like they have video games for patrons to play toward the back of the restaurant. Kent , the owner , was very friendly as well as Brittany our server . We will...
