As someone who lives locally, my family has ordered from Crossroads numerous times. By now, we know that food is never ready on time and generally show up 10 minutes after the time given but last night really takes the cake for us. I was given 35 minutes for my order time. I showed up in 45 minutes and was told “it would just be a few more minutes”. At 55 minutes, I asked what the eta was on my food only to be told some of it wasn’t even started yet. I then waited another 10 minutes for my food to come out, which was very obviously rushed because my pizza and onion rings were both under done. The staff was very unprofessional on their phones, complaining to each other, spewing off about how “so and so” doesn’t know how to do their job. The only apology I was offered was that they were so busy and the owners were on vacation so they were doing their best. I completely understand being understaffed and busy and out of the normal groove, but don’t tell someone their food will be ready in 35 minutes if it won’t be. I would have rather been told my food would take an hour and 15 minutes, than sit in the restaurant for 35 minutes waiting for food. At the end of the whole ordeal, I paid cash and they had the audacity to ask if I needed change back. When I stated yes, the staff flew off into the kitchen yelling “I don’t know how we’re going to do this!”, whatever that meant.
All in all, we will not be returning...
Read moreSo years after this place opened my girl, and I, decided to just randomly stop in for a drink. You wouldnt think much of this place just driving by, it's located off the main road, in a strip mall, the outside patio does look a lot nicer than the rest of the mall but I think it gets pre judged because of its surroundings. That said this place is just fantastic, the shining gem of the entire strip, and I actually feel guilty for not stopping in sooner.
It was a Sunday when we came, we got a couple of drinks and an appetizer, and the bartender was so awesome we went back on her next shift, that Wednesday. We got dinner, fish, and chicken dishes, and there was a bit of a mishap, with my order, due to training.... however the main chef came out personally and apologized then bought me a drink while I waited for the issue to be corrected.... I never in my life had that happen, and he was sincerely sorry. He must have apologized a half dozen times, during the time we were there, and you can tell from his sincerity that he puts in a lot of effort and takes a lot of pride in his work.
So we went back a week later, different bartender this time, she too was awesome... we ordered hot sandwiches and fries, the food was spot on, the atmosphere was the same, peaceful, clean, and quiet, the prices are fair.
This place is a definite go to if you are...
Read moreMy wife and I moved to Averill Park 5 years ago and have patronized Crossroads during this time. Your food is good and we have been pleased.
I like the chicken salad and have ordered it with dry chicken, no onion, no olives. In three of the past 5 attempts the order has been wrong - each time the chicken is hot sauce.
My wife called tonight ordered a pizza (good) and a salad, dry, no onion, no olives. When I arrived to pick it up, I was opening it to check it and the server assured me it was as ordered so I accepted it.
When I got home I found the salad... loaded with onions, blue cheese dressings or crumbly blu cheese, a couple of tomato pieces, no monterey jack, and the chicken was dry... I saw the order slip that had capital letters dry, no onions, no olives, and nowhere in the description is there bleu cheese at all.
Te salad... was small, covered in onions, no cheese, almost no tomato, and inedible since I'm allergic to onions.
It would be hard to find anything more that could have been wrong with this order - That was my last attempt - Never again! I sent the owner an email and found his short response "I apologize" not...
