Edited Review:

In response to the comment below that we “should have asked to speak to a manager if we really wanted to help”, we felt so incredibly uncomfortable by the employees behavior we simply wanted to leave the establishment as soon as possible. The last thing we wanted to do was cause a scene, or prompt further aggression from the employee, when all we wanted to do was enjoy our morning.

We hope that Bettina’s thrives in Phoenicia, and wish the restaurant all the best.

We unfortunately had an uncomfortable experience with a staff member named Paula.

I went to the cashier to pay for my order, and the price Paula gave me was higher than the price on the website. This was not a problem; as a business owner, I understand prices fluctuate. I informed Paula that the price on the website was $10 vs the the $12 price at the restaurant, with the only intention being to tell her so the restaurant could edit their website. Something that, as a business owner, I would very much appreciate.

To our surprise, she responded with immediate aggression, saying, “Well, that's not the price, is it?”. I was taken aback by her response and tried to explain that I was simply providing information. She continued to be aggressive, saying, “We made the toast you ordered as a favor to you.” Then she stormed to the back of the restaurant.

Then she returned to the front and proceeded to stare at me and my partner aggressively. It was an extremely uncomfortable, and overall shocking experience.

This unprecedented aggression in a restaurant was a first for us, and it unfortunately has tarnished our view of this restaurant.

We hope this review reaches the upper management and prompts them to work with their staff on professional etiquette. Our aim is to ensure that other patrons do not have a negative experience like we did so that Bettina can thrive in the...

This is such a special place. I am a local resident and small town realtor in Phoenicia and am so terribly grateful to have this cozy and welcoming cafe as part of our community. The food is creative and utterly delicious. You cannot go wrong by ordering any of the weekly specials. For a quick bite I love the egg and cheese sandwich, one of the best I have ever had with a special tomato jam that gives it a little something extra. For something more sinful to be savored, the creme brûlée’d French Toast is a buttery and sinful treat, served piping hot. The pancakes are some of the best that I have ever had. For a more healthy mood, the soups and salads I’ve tried have been excellent. There is a marvelous panini too, and so much more. Everything is flavorful and well balanced. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the service very friendly. Very importantly, the coffee program, by local roaster Heavy Feather, is perfection. Sitting on the porch here staring up at the stunning mountains and watching our small town world walk by is a special experience that is not to be missed. This is equal parts destination dining and a great locals hang, a rare...

We had breakfast at the Bettina Bakery on Saturday. First of all, the cappuccino was delicious. But that was about it. We had to wait more than 25 minutes for 1x egg sandwich, even though we were the only ones there. On top of that, it wasn't a sandwich but 5 individual components consisting of 2 pieces of toast, bacon, eggs, Tomato Jam and 2 hash browns that were completely covered in oil. So the sandwich wasn't a sandwich but simply 5 individual components on 5 plates. "Name of a sandwich: A sandwich is a dish typically consisting of meat, cheese or vegetables used as a filling between slices of bread" what I got was definitely NOT a sandwich. And considering that we had to wait over 25 minutes for 1x "sandwich" consisting of 5 individual components, the eggs and bacon were cold. The atmosphere of the cafe was cozy, but we had to listen to Mexican music the whole time what completely ruined the atmosphere. Just like the staff who were joking around loudly the whole time. We definitely won't be coming back and I hope that my feedback will changing something.

Unfortunately I was so shocked that I didn't even...

Lovely, warm and comfy cafe, with a country store feel. A perfect stopping place on along route 28. Stopped in for Saturday brunch — our first time there. While the menu had a variety of breakfast dishes, I was surprised not to see a basic breakfast dish like bacon & eggs. It was only after I had ordered that I realized they had a separate “side orders” menu where you could piece together something like that à la carte, but it was way on the far side of the lunch menu. I had even asked the staff member who took my order if the egg sandwich and egg taco skillet were the only egg dishes, and she said “yes.” A number of other staff let-downs added up to a frustrating first visit: delivering my pot of tea to the table with no mug, forgetting to put the salsa on the taco skillet, never bringing us the cinnamon roll we ordered. And it was not busy! Despite these frustrations, it’s a nice place with a friendly, comfortable vibe. I will give them a second try, but things have to go much better next time, otherwise I doubt I’d bother returning a third time.

We had dinner last night. The server Jesse was very fast and efficient and very friendly and gave us great recommendations on food choices! The dining room area is very cozy and welcoming. Each table had a simple and elegant base of flowers. The presentation of each food plate was impeccable!! The mezze plate was delicious! The tomato jam and whipped feta and hummus were delicious! The bread served with butter was very good. The entrees we ordered Ahi tuna over jasmine rice and the linguine with shrimp were both very flavourful . The flourless chocolate torre was amazing . The coffee is always very good, breakfast, lunch or dinner!! The quality fo food is very good and prices are reasonably! We regularly go to this great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner !!

Looking for a great dinner spot? Love steak? Bettina is your new GO TO. What a fantastic find on our way to our lake house thanks to Google search. It's just off the main road and well worth the trip. Rebecca (the owner) was great and her entire staff was over the top friendly. Oh, about that steak... absolute perfection. Juicy, moist, delicious - it was obvious they put that small town love and care into prepping it. My wife had the Lasagna and she is literally still talking about it now days later - lol. I hear they've got great breakfast options as well and we plan to stop on our way back through to try it out. Whatever time of day you come through - Bettina has got something for you it seems. 5 out of 5 stars!
