Normally, I don't leave reviews, positive or negative, but the god-awfulness of the service here seriously shocked me, and I can't emphasize enough how bad it was.
The location of this restaurant is gorgeous and very convenient. For the most part, the food was alright aside from the cold pasta and extremely strange and actually unappetizing strawberry and cream "cake".
My real issue with this place lies with the service we received. Not one of their staff seemed to care about our existence within their establishment, and they showed this time and time again. I've NEVER had this happen to me, but I told the waiter we needed extra time for ordering main courses, but put the appetizer order in. He left for so long that the appetizer came out before we had a chance to order mains, leaving us with giant clunky menus at a small 2-person table.
After we finished our appetizers, the waitstaff took our forks away and failed to replace them until I flagged one of them down and asked. That meant that when the main came out, it sat on the table for about 5 minutes and cooled off significantly. There was also no steak knife for the skirt steak (and the steak was NOT tender enough to go without.)
We opted for tap water, but likely would've went with bottled had we known that no one would EVER refill our (teeny tiny) glasses, despite staff making constant laps around our section.
I would have to say this is the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. Many would say that "for the price" this service is god awful, but I wouldn't even expect to be treated like this at a Chili's. Also weird and unnecessary "plate sharing" charge, which I don't know if this is the norm in this area but odd...
Read moreLiterally giving a 0 for service !!! Service was the worst I think I have ever experienced in a restaurant. Food was good but not exceptional - we couldn’t even enjoy our meal with a bathroom line forming by our table. Server really didn’t care about us. We waited 30 min for our first drink and she made up some excuse. We were finished with our appetizers by the time our first drink came. Our 2nd round of drinks came after we were finished with desert - Waited about 25 min for them. When we complained to the staff and manager - they didn’t care and they didn’t even look to compensate us for anything due to our poor experience. This is the 2nd time we were there and we experienced extremely poor service the 1st time as well. Food was good but not that good. Our entire dinner and the ambiance was ruined because of such sub par service level. There are plenty of other great restaurants in the area where I would happily spend my money. I will not be going out of my way to go back there again. I have heard from many people that they have had similar experiences as us. Management should do something about it but doesn’t - not very smart. I don’t think this place will be around for long as people will get very tired of it...
Read moreDinner at Amalfi Hamptons felt like a little escape. Coastal, calm, and quietly luxurious.
We started with the Sicilian Pizza Squares, with a choice of margherita or hot honey pepperoni ($21/$24). I chose the hot honey pepperoni. The sweetness of the honey came through more than the heat, but it was still flavorful and fun. 7.5 out of 10.
The Chopped Salad ($22), made with iceberg, salami, mozzarella, chickpeas, roasted red peppers, and a red wine parmesan vinaigrette, was fresh, crisp, and satisfying. 8 out of 10.
The Linguini Vongole ($38) was a standout. The cockles were fresh and tender. The sauce of garlic, chili, white wine, and parsley was incredible. Rich, buttery, briny, and beautifully balanced. 8.5 out of 10.
The highlight of the night was the pistachio gelato. Smooth, nutty, and not too sweet. A true 10 out of 10. I would return just for that.
Service was excellent. Warm, attentive, and thoughtful without being too present.
The atmosphere was beautiful. Open-air dining with coastal elegance and a view that invites you to relax. Music played at the perfect volume, noticeable but never distracting.
I ended the evening in stillness, letting the view and that last bite of gelato speak...
