When it is February on the East End of Long Island, the restaurant is not on Main Street, and you still have trouble finding a parking space, you know before you walk in the door - something good is going on in here! And at the Bell & Anchor, it is everything - the food, the service, and the ambiance! Open approximately eight years; this is truly a jewel sitting along Noyack Road with bay access and view. We began our delightful experience by ordering the Hone Port Chowder and dozen Montauk Pearl Oysters for a dollar each special. Their chowder is genuinely among the best I have enjoyed - creamy, briny, flavorful, and velvety. Bacon adds a subtle smoky hint to the cream. The raw oysters were juicy, fresh, and served with a well prepared Mignonette sauce. Our entrees included the Grilled Flat Iron Steak with sauteed spinach, Pommes Frites and bearnaise butter and the Fish of the Day, a Tilefish on a bed of edamame, and seasonal vegetables served in a Chardonnay Sauce. The meal was exceptional! Our biggest compliments to the two chefs here!!! And thus, we just had to try their desserts. To conclude, we ordered the Dreamy Brownie Sunday and Almond Cake with Marscapone Cream. After which we waddled to our car! Indeed this is a great restaurant to enjoy. Fortunately, they are open year-round and in peak season do take reservations. So if you have time to explore the East End before Memorial Day, put Bell & Anchor in your GPS. Spend a glorious day in Southampton and Sag Harbor, walk around Trout Pond, and cross the street to this beautiful restaurant. If you are lucky, Anne will be your server and take the best...
Read moreThis was the absolute worst service experience I ever had. Bradlee our waiter couldn’t have been more annoyed with us and it certainly negatively impacted our dining experience. The table next to us were locals, our waiter was nice to them... My husband is celiac so he cannot eat gluten...this was a huge problem. I tried nicely to inquire about the amount of oil in dishes I was interested in. When I asked for sauces on the side...again with the disgust looks. This usually doesn’t cause foul looks and disgust from servers. I try to be gracious and courteous. Everything was a problem. I asked for hot water with lemon three times. Finally it was brought to me. The meal was good. My husband had the local sea bass that he really enjoyed. I had the fluke which was good, a little salty. I won’t bother coming here ever again and I told our bed and breakfast about our negative experience. The place is on their recommendations list. Also, our waiter charged our card an extra $40 and practically slammed the bill down on our table. We had the host fix our bill. If you’re a local, it appears you are treated well. If you’re visiting I don’t recommend this place AT ALL unless you like feeling...
Read moreAmazing restaurant with a tasteful interior - low lit tables, comfortable seating, and quiet! Would be a great place for a date or nice family dinner. Not too mention the fantastic view of the harbor
My friends and I went here to celebrate my birthday, the staff were incredibly attentive and personable. Chelsey was our waiter, he frequently checked in on us and our glasses were never empty.
Oysters - fresh and flavorful. Cesar salad - well seasoned. Beet salad - my personal favorite of the appetizers, the beets were wonderfully cold and sweet with arugula and goat cheese. Clam chowder - perfect execution of a classic. Tuna tartare - again amazing, fresh tuna, well seasoned
Hamburger - fantastic Lobster Garganelli - delicious, didn’t feel heavy despite being a pasta dish Bouillabaisse - another hit, my friend’s favorite ever
Their brownie was the perfect way to end the night
Was a pricey night but we got 5 apps, 3 mains, dessert, and a bottle of wine. Typically would expect it to be around 60-70 per person for an app...
