Surprisingly poor service and 2 out of 3 dinners were not good, but my husband loved his chicken parm ( by which he rates all Italian restaurants ) and loved the sauce. I think they were understaffed and hostess was so busy packing and ringing up orders that she couldnāt oversee the front of the house. We were seated at 7:30. The couple that was seated after us, had a different server and was served their wine, garlic rolls and appetizer before us. After 30 minutes I had to ask for garlic rolls, which was chopped raw garlic in oil on bottom of basket with rolls on top - awful - but we ate the rolls because dinner didnāt arrive until 8:40 and then only 2 dinners arrived. Waiter looked surprised, checked his computer and ran into kitchen. Ten minutes later, the Sea Bass special served on risotto with vegetables finally arrived for our dinner guest. The risotto should have been creamy and flavorful, but it was undercooked and tasteless with very few vegetable pieces thrown on top. Our guest said the sea bass was good. My shrimp, clams & mussels over linguini was absolutely tasteless. The seafood was cooked perfectly but it was sitting in mostly cooking water. The linguini was dripping water when it should have been coated in sauce. Cooking broth, some herbs & white wine stirred into a roux would have created a sauce for the pasta. I would normally stop to discuss all this after our meal, but we didnāt want to delay our guest any longer as it was now 9:40 and we were the last diners in the front room of the restaurant. After initially being told the restaurant was full we were offered to get "take out" and eat in the restaurant's terrace area, all good so far. However, things would quickly take a bizarre turn. When some of our group went to check on whether the food was ready, the hostess invited us to sit inside because a table had opened up. Upon sitting down we were confronted by a confused and angry waiter asking us whether we had "just taken the table" or someone had allowed us to sit there. After we explained we had been offered the table, he promptly marched to the hostess and declared loudly enough for us to hear "it's your fault". This should have been a red flag. What followed was 1 hour of cold behaviour and barely aknowledging our existence before dumping the bill at our table without even asking whether we would like dessert or a second drink. The whole situation was at least made slightly amusing by the endless mistakes he made at our neighbouring tables: forgetting orders, getting them wrong, making errors with the bill, and letting a couple with a young child wait 45 minutes for drinks and a salad (mistakes that to his credit, he at least had the decency to apologise for). The only reason this is not a 1 star review is because, ironically, the food was actually very good. I went late afternoon and was their only dine in customer for about 20 min so the service was superb, most people were doing pick ups - they had a really busy pickup counter.
I got the mushroom, onion and potato soup - tasted the potato skins too, I loved that part. Rosemary flatbread came with it, itās made in house, all the bread is except their sub/hoagie sandwich bread. All soups do have chicken stock.. even though I wish that wasnāt the caseā¦but very considerate to inform me. Owners kid is vegan so they have dairy free options. They have hepa filters, for some reason they told me that lol š Great owner has a very charming nature about him Women chefs The place is freaking awesome, I had such a good experience - I nearly went back for dinner.
Lots of people ordered the pizza to go. So I would suggest pizza and soup. Good music too!! And they know their customers, lady working the register is on it, getting the orders out while the owner smoozes the customers. I was by myself so I got to see everything.
They have a back room too that would be nice for a party of maybe 20 people.
However, I would be very wary about parking in the front, people go too fast around the bend and it makes it hard to back out, next time I will park in the back or...
