Edgewater in Hampton Bays is a remarkable family owned local institution which offers superb food and extraordinarily gracious and warm service. Quite simply: Edgewater is a delightful and unpretentious place.
The restaurant’s cooking offers Italian classics beautifully executed with the most pristine of ingredients. The full range of Italian cooking is on display, from delicious pastas (Rigatoni Bolognese, Broccoli Rabe with Sausage, Frutti di Mare with abundant seafood) to perfectly cooked Veal Milanese, Pork Osso Bucco and Roasted Branzino. The starters are exceptional, including Fried Calamari, Crab Cakes, Pan Seared Yellow Fin Tuna and succulent Meatballs & Burrata. Over the years, the kitchen has performed at a consistently high level, refining the menu and execution - a noteworthy accomplishment given the restaurant’s volume of customers.
Edgewater is distinguished by its unrivaled warmth, a tone set by the hands on owner, John Venesina, and his daughter, Nicole. Edgewater’s service team, many of whom have been at the restaurant for years, is a special group, an extension of the Venesina family. From Magda, Nicole and Katherine at the front of the house to the highly professional team on the floor (led by Julio, Crystal, Serena and Crissy), the operation is seamless and always accommodating.
In a environment in which restaurants have endured considerable economic adversity, resulting in compromised food quality and service, Edgewater has maintained its exemplary standard of excellence, continuing to serve the finest and most pristine ingredients in its dishes - while maintaining its moderate prices and great value.
Kudos to ownership and the Edgewater team for delivering extraordinary value and a wonderful environment for...
Read moreArrived as a group of 10, with reservations for a 7:30 dinner time; ended up having to wait about 15ish minutes in their itty-bitty lobby- that was the only negative part of the entire experience. Our server was great, attentive and able to accomodate any needs we had. It was a bit louder than I like for a dinner place, but it was packed, and the indoor part of the dining room is not very large (seats under 80ish). Again, wish we went on this weekend trip when it was warmer, because the deck/outdoor seating would of been amazing. The water is right across the road and the views are unobstructed. The Berry Naughty martini was amazing, and I opted for a lighter dinner after indulging in calamari and bruschetta topped with goat cheese as appetizers (enough for at least 4+ people). I had the avocado/crab salad and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect ending to a heavier appetizer round. Many of the girls with me had pasta dishes (Lobster was popular), and another had one of their hand-crafted pizzas (shrimp, goat cheese, arugula & prosciutto)- phenomenal.
As far as kid-friendly goes, they DO have a kids menu, and when we were there; a few kids and parents were in attendance. Personally, the place is not "kid friendly" in my mind... a little pricey for kids food (16$ for a kids cheese pizza); but if you want to splurge this is the place to do it! Of note- one table with two kids had both their kids with headphones and tablets on... soooo if that's any indication on the level of "you need to keep them busy so you can enjoy your meal" hah... just...
Read moreOver all experience was horrible. We were sat directly behind the hostess stand and we were rushed completely. The girl kept looking at us to see when we were leaving because she had another party after us. Mind you, we didn't even get our meals yet. For appetizers I got the seared ahi tuna and crab bisque. Seared tuna was okay but over cooked, the inside which is supposed to be a nice red and a fleshy pink color. As for the bisque, no lumps of crab in it. The flavor of the bisque itself was good but the texture was like if you were drinking orange just with some pulp in it, so just stringy. For my entree I got the fillet mignon and shrimp. The meat was cooked to the temperature I wanted and the flavor just needed more seasoning but overall not bad. The shrimp was nice but it was supposed to be a baked shrimp with bread crumbs on it and it was uneven breading. The spinach was very good. As for the potatoes I would literally never eat whatever sauce they put on it. Tasted like truffle oil on the potatoes, it was horrific. I also got a side of risotto which was completely over cooked so the cheese they mixed into it became watery. For dessert I ordered the chocolate lava cake. Completely over cooked. Lava cake should have a warm, gooey middle and when you open it it should just ooze everywhere. Mine was dense from being over cooked and had way too much cocoa powder in it which left my mouth super dry. It came with vanilla ice cream which was good but I highly doubt they...
