Ordered hot lunches (a meal combo & 2 kids' meals) and my own ice cream cone to pick up at the window with my kids' free ice cream (after we ate our hot meals). They delivered the meal to our car, but included the to-be-held cone. The delivery person (a college-aged girl) was rude, saying, "Due to COVID, you're not supposed to go back up to the window."
I ate half my cone while my hot lunch got cold.
When my kids were done eating their meals, we discovered there were no ice cream tokens in their bags. I called over another car-delivery person (who happened to be a manager) and explained the situation. She got my kids their ice cream and gave us 2 additional tokens, for our trouble.
I can't see our family being the only ones to order a cone for pickup after eating a hot lunch, nor being the only ones NOT to get ice cream tokens with the kids' meals. The folks standing in line - for food and/or desserts - were not necessarily following the protocol for being safe (6' apart, masks, etc).
I've been all about supporting local/small businesses during COVID/quarantine, because I'd hate to see any of our favorites close permanently; however, I'm not sure we'll go back to...
Read moreWe love Anderson's frozen custard, and the food's good too. This location really has that feel of the drive-in ice cream place from summers long past (but the enclosures that go up in the fall make it so you can enjoy it year-round!). The staff is generally really good with custom orders, so you can get your favorite mix of flavors, whether it's a sundae, cone, or shake (or malted). With a mix of frozen custard flavors, Italian ice, and hard ice creams and frozen yogurts there are lots of possibilities available. And of course, there are frozen ice cream cakes and pints/quarts already packaged for take-home options.
One extra benefit to this location is that it's practically next to the Tonawanda Rails-to-Trails path, making it much nicer to visit without the car.
And just as a general note, you can check the special flavors of all the Anderson's locations on their website, in case there's a particular one you're...
Read moreThis was one of the worst meals I've had. Being from out of town, this was our first time eating here, so I didn't know what to expect. The sandwich I chose had lots of toppings in the picture on the menu, so when I ordered I asked if it came with those toppings. The person at the counter said you got to choose what you wanted on it, and so I said great and continued with my order. At other 'choose your toppings' fast food places, you often pick what you want on it after you've ordered as they're making it, but it seems this was not the case. There was a section on the menu that had different topping options, but I didn't see that until afterwards and was never given the options at the counter and wasn't even asked what kind of bun/bread I'd like. In the end I got a sad, cold meat sandwich with frozen custard that tasted like cheap ice cream. The only good thing about the fries was that they were warm....
