JessiCakes — Restaurant in Town of Van Buren

Unhygienic. Old options sold as if they are fresh. Dry. Good reviews only show pics from holidays. Rest of the time nothing is available. Rude and obnoxious behavior. Walked in and waited while she was on the phone complaining about other customers. “Custom orders only” and this and that about the heat. Now ice cream? In the heat of the ovens? Looks like a great place for food poisoning. Plus it smells like fish from the river when you have to sit on the ONE BENCH. These other reviews must be confusing it with the other Jessicakes which is great- but this is the one in BVille across from the beautiful new ice cream parlour. I really wanted to love this bakery but unfortunately I was not impressed. We ordered 28 cupcakes with grass for my daughters birthday. We provided the toppers. Totaled around $90. The cupcakes were extremely dry and broke apart when the kids tried to eat them. The mousse inside had hardened as well. There was a sticker on the box that said “keep refrigerated” so I am not sure how long the cupcakes had been refrigerated before pickup day. The frosting was pretty grainy as well. It stunk because I was hoping to have “good” cupcakes for the party but I now feel like I should have just gone through the grocery store.

We drove 40 minutes by boat just to try JessiCakes for the first time - it was 90+ degrees and we wanted ice cream, so we thought we would support a small business in our community. We checked their Facebook and Google for hours, both said they closed at 8PM - these were not just suggested hours, JessiCakes had posted to their Facebook page just 3 days ago with their hours for the week. We arrived at 7:45 and the open sign was lit, but the door was locked. We knocked and someone came to the door and said they were closed. I’m not sure there will be a “next time” visit for us, but if you’re considering visiting, I would recommend calling before so as to not waste your time and find them closed during their normal, advertised...
