Last Sunday (8/6), two of my friend and I went for a ride, and decided to stop at the Emerald Point restaurant for lunch. We were thrilled to see so many bikers hanging out, and we wanted to join them. Considering all three of us work for the NYC Harley-Davidson dealership, we recognized some of the people. I have a small service dog, and the ladies at the entrance immediately asked about the duties my dog performs. I gladly replied, and they were happy with the answers. The outdoor part was packed, so we decided to sit at the bar and have some food and drinks. My dog was not on the leash because I keep her in my lap to be able to perform her duties. The bartender did not like that, and kept insisting I put my dog on the floor “where service dogs belong” even though she never asked me what duties my dog performs. I told the bartender that she should not insist on my dog being on the floor without knowing what she was trained to do, but the bartender continued. At that point, the bartender started raising her voice and telling me that she cannot allow dogs on the bar because their insurance does not cover that, and that she is not trying to be confrontational. Every person sitting at the bar was staring at me as the bartender continued explaining to me how emotional support animals are not the same as service animals. My friends were very angry, but I did not want them to say anything. I just took my dog and my stuff and left the restaurant. My dogs goes everywhere with me. Work, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and even doctor’s offices. Rarely anyone even asks if she is a service animal. She usually walks unleashed, but I have no problem using the leash if someone asks. Wherever we go, she always sits quietly in my lap and does not bother anyone. She does not even bark, and I do not feed her any food off the table. I only give her some water from the bowl I bring. Everyone loves her! Everywhere we go, people politely ask to pet her and play with her. I cannot even explain how embarrassed and humiliated I felt in front of my friends and other patrons of the restaurant. We left as quickly as possible to run away from the uncomfortable encounter. My friends want me to sue the restaurant, but I will definitely not do that. The restaurant should not suffer because of one uninformed individual. I also do not want any compensations or apologies. There is nothing that could compensate for what happened. I would only like people to learn more about different disabilities, and the rights people have when they come in with a service animal. People with disabilities are often marginalized and self-conscious, and no not need more...
Read moreThis past Saturday, we went out on our boat with our dog and friends on Greenwood Lake like we always do. Our friends decided they wanted to stop by this establishment to have lunch and a few drinks. They have an entire huge lawn outside with multiple picnic tables. We had our dog with us on a leash who is extremely well-behaved. I had our friends wait by a picnic table which at this moment there was absolutely nobody sitting outside, and the restaurant was only at about a quarter capacity. When I went to the hostess, she said that no pets were allowed on the property at all. I tried to come up with some kind of arrangement on how we could get food and bring it back to the boat. They refused to send us a server to the table to take an order from everybody Because they said they were not sure they were doing to go orders. So the hostess got the manager a very heavyset lady I do not know her name. I explained to her that we have a dog with us and that we wanted to sit outside at a picnic table away from everybody and have some food or possibly do a takeout order. She was extremely rude and told us that we only had a few minutes to do a takeout order because they were probably gonna stop doing them, even though keep in mind almost half the tables were empty and it was not very busy for Saturday. Long story short they refused to help us and what really upset us is the fact that we docked the boat at the restaurant and got off the boat with the dog and the person working at the restaurant never told us we were not allowed to have a dog with us. These people were extremely unfriendly and obviously not animal friendly people. So we decided to spend our money at another place on the water called the castle Cove. They allow dogs out on the patio , and you can dock there also. So I recommend the castle to anybody looking to eat on Greenwood Lake with their pets. I’m very disappointed because I’ve been to this establishment on my motorcycle. And had much better service. I would not recommend giving these people any money if you are a pet owner or if you keep your dog on the...
Read moreThe view is lovely and the staff was friendly. We were seated immediately upon arrival by the hostess.
The wait for someone to take our order was pretty long. I glanced over my shoulder to see the waitresses/runners talking amongst each other in a circle while waiting so long.
Once we ordered the service was speedy.
Our waitress never gave us her name or even mentioned she was our waitress.
We ordered a penne vodka and added chicken which was an additional 4 dollars for the chicken but when the dish arrived it didnt have any chicken in it.
We didnt make a fuss about the chicken and it was taken off our bill.
The same waitress who took care of that issue was a good worker who seemed to be as effective as possible.
Half way through our meal, there wasn't any available waitress or waiter to refill our water and the food felt harder to bring down.
Prior to that our "assumed" waitress did ask if everything was ok but we weren't aware that our drinks may or may have not needed to be refilled.
After our meal was finished we managed to get water with lemon. Which we were excited about from one of the runners and not our actual waitress.
We heard another table nearby talking about how he was trying to signal a waitress over for awhile and got no response and was blatantly ignored.
I did see workers doing their jobs but possibly they were understaffed?
Managment needs to make sure the flow of...
