My partner and I went to the Last Whiskey Bar for the first time based on a recommendation.
We are both whiskey connoisseurs and I have worked the liquor industry for over 10 years. We looked over the cocktail menu. Not very impressive and it didn't list the whiskey's in the cocktails. We ordered a cocktail for my partner and I told the waitress I wanted to taste it before deciding if I wanted that or something else. She brings my partner's drink and I taste it and then she walks away and doesn't come back to take my order until my partner is more than half finished with his drink. His cocktail was okay but not really to my liking cause it was too sweet and I couldn't really taste the bourbon. So I try to order something else. I ask what the house bourbon was in the cocktail and she doesn't know.
A man walks up to our table. I have no idea if he was the owner or manager. He never introduced himself to us. Nor did he ask anything about us or what brought us there. He wasn't personable at all. He just asks if we have a problem and told us the waitress was new. I ask what bourbon is in the cocktail I was thinking of ordering. He tells me a bourbon that I know but not a mixing bourbon I would turn to. So I ask for Black Dirt. They are out of Black Dirt Bourbon in Warwick, NY. So at this point I give up on the cocktail and order an Angel's Envy neat. You don't adulterate Angel's Envy .It is one of the best sipping bourbon's I have ever come across.
The man looked at me like I had lobsters coming out my ears. And I don't know if he didn't know what neat meant or he didn't think I knew what neat meant cause he questioned it. Here I am in a whiskey bar surrounded by wall to wall fine whiskey and ordering a bourbon you just do not mix with and I don't know what it means to serve it neat? Or he doesn't know? What the heck?
The place is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. It was not a pleasant experience and we have no desire to return based on how we were passed over and neglected. At least the Angel's Envy...

Read moreWe found this gem of a speakeasy totally by chance after apple picking. It was INCREDIBLE. It’s very IYKYK and a great spot that locals go to. Max the bartender and manager made such incredible cocktails for us as did Chris who was under his mentorship at the time. The vibe is very laid back and we love how they also have an outdoor area that you can chill in on nicer days. They also have space heaters for cooler days. They have a live band on some of the nights and an extremely extensive selection of brown liquor 😋 they also have lockers for bottles and you can tell they spent a lot of time on the design of the entire place. I also love how they turned French doors into windows near the bar. We were able to chat with Brian one of the owners for awhile and we had great conversation with him and he gave us the history of the bar and despite being busy spent time with us. We truly appreciated our time there and will absolutely be back. I could not recommend this place more. Thank you Brian, Max,...
