The Best Ribs I've had this side of Texas. I am from Houston area Texas so I know what im talking about. I was a lil skeptical seeing how I've been to probably 5 or 6 different "BBQ" joints from Buffalo to Rochester and have found them to be less than par. So I showed up on a Monday not knowing they were closed on Mondays however, A lady and her Husband were in the parking lot so I spoke with them. She explained they would be open Tuesday so I asked about the ribs. Of course she said they were great, so I promised id come back and give em a shot. The next day (Tuesday) I walked in a very upbeat atmosphere and of course the small town looks my way (Wilson is a small town and im a stranger lol) nothing bad, just obvious im new round here. I ordered ribs with Mac n Cheese and corn and a glass of sweet tea and went to sit outside. The food came out and lemme tell ya, the only thing id change is the tea. The ribs were cooked perectly, not soggy or mushy like when steamed, the sauce was sticky and just the right amount, The ribs when cut you could see the juices coming out, the mac n cheese was homemade, really cheesy and good, now the corn was different for me. I was expecting corn, what I got was corn with black beans and boy they were good. While I was eating, Liz ( the lady from the parking lot the day before) come and sat with me and asked what I thought. Apparently she and her husband own the place. I told her honestly the only thing id change is the tea. Before I left I ordered a sliced brisket sammich with homemade chips and a piece of meatloaf to give a try the next day for lunch n dinner. The brisket sammich has a sauce with horse raddish mix and man that was good, not overbearing so the brisket flavor come through. I havent had the meatloaf yet, thats diner tonight but if its anything like the rest, im positive ill go to bed fat dumb n happy. Yall go check this place out, enjoy the awesome food, and awesome hospitality even from Liz's brother Mike behind the bar, Tell em the Texas guy sent ya,
eat drink and...
Read moreIf you’re visiting and using Google to help you decide where to eat, just stop looking now and go to Vern’s! We visited Wilson, NY from Kansas for a few days in late May and wanted to support local restaurants while we were there. While there are many are other restaurants in Wilson and the surrounding small towns, Vern’s was hands down the BEST! We ate there 2 of the 4 nights we stayed and the only reason it wasn’t all 4 is because we didn’t visit the first time until our second to last night there. I wish I would have taken pictures but the the food was too delicious so by the time I thought of taking a picture it was already gone! The cheese curds are AMAZING!! The ribs were so tender and flavorful. Everything we tried was just delicious! I’m just sad we live so far away and can’t go back to Vern’s on a regular basis! The staff was so friendly as well. The waiter took time to visit with us and we even got to meet the owner who was very sweet. Just...
Read moreHave had breakfast eat in and did a take out dinner, none of which I would write home about. Music is too loud, food is, well if you are ok with no flavor, over cooked and some under cooked. There are many people who say it's good, but the 2 times my husband I tried it, was very unsatisfactory. Though, I do believe that everyone should try it for themselves and make their own judgment. The service was, when eating in, was satisfactory and the people are very hospitable, inviting and cheerful. I say give it a try, they are new and everyone deserves a chance. May try it again and try the things others have said ARE good. My opinion is just...
