After moving away from the area for 10 years, the first restaurant I wanted to dine at was the Blue Danube and it did not disappoint! It is exactly the same as it was 10 (and 20!) years ago. The food is authentic and delectable and the atmosphere has a homey, Eastern European vibe. Our server was pleasant and oh so accommodating and kind enough to ask Chef Peter if he would prepare my favorite dish - Spaetzle with bacon, onion and cabbage - Yum! My partner enjoyed the delicious pork chop and we shared the stuffed cabbage and mititei appetizers as well. Soup or salad is also included with your entree. We opted for their salad with a nice assortment of vegetables as well as the welcome addition of cantaloupe. Everything was superb! They also have a cozy, fully stocked bar and their drinks are substantial! I can't wait to return and save room for dessert. So happy that this treasured dining establishment has prevailed and is as special as ever!

Been 9 years since we visited. Service was about the same as last time. Better wear your patience hat since it does take a while to get served and get your food on the table. Pierogis were absolute bliss. Homemade and served with delicious onions with sour cream on the side. I opted for the Jaeger schnitzel with red cabbage and my wife went with the chicken paprikash with green beans. Odd that the beans were not sauted with bacon but she was ok with it. We also had the potato tomato soup. Great appetizer but it seemed more tomato than what we had last time. Overall still a go to place for great European delights. Don't mind the neighborhood. Looks a little run down but the dining totally makes up for it.

As a European living across the pond, it brought me so much joy to find a piece of Europe in Trenton, furthermore, one of the owners is actually Romanian! Anyway, food wise, they absolutely nailed the schnitzel, breading was on point! Tomato and potato soup, another delicacy! Roasted potatoes have been talked about in the newspapers that they have hung up on the walls for a reason. Really worth going out your way, to support a local, family business, whit authentic food and care you'll never see at your mcd's

Disregard any unfavorable customer reviews made during the 2020-21 Covid pandemic with strict governmental restrictions and limitations imposed upon all restaurants trying to survive during this period! I have been dining here with family and friends for over 30 years and now only my wife and I dine here in the same rustic European style dining room of years past, which we still enjoy today. However, what really counts here is the food starting with our favorite appetizers: potato pancakes and mushroom caps stuffed with crabmeat followed by any of the many delicious Eastern European entrees accompanied by two side dishes and warm Italian bread with garlic butter. And, a dessert should never be skipped--especially the Apple Strudel which comes with ice cream and whipped cream--even if only sharing with your wife or a date. I have also read ALL the reviews about the Blue Danube, which included some not being so favorable--complaining either about a prolonged wait time to place an order due to a shortage of wait staff or an extended wait time to be served. To that I say: always make reservations and arrive between 5-6 PM for evening meals because everything is freshly prepared. What's most important here beside your meal selection is to "savor life by having a memorable and relaxing evening out while dining"--rather than just eating and rushing through your meal. And if you or guests in your party are ever dissatisfied with anything whatsoever, speak to the co-owner Margaret at the bar on your way out. Remember, the Blue Danube is not a "fast food" restaurant, and that's what makes its home-style cooking exceptional--for so many years, especially now in this day and age of corporate franchise...

Went there on 3/2 2021 for my 65th birthday. We went there often when we lived in Trenton and loved it back then. However, this time was awful and we walked out. This once adorable place looked like an army barracks, very sparce. We had a reservation. We waited in the doorway for 5 minutes staring at a sloppy bar while 2 men, one a owner, drank Martini's. Finally a young man, with zero personally, showed us to our table. We were seated without menu's. When he finally returned he took our drink order making up lame excuses for the service being slow. Still no menu or bread. Drinks arrived without menu's and my son's drink was wrong. Menu's arrived on a piece of paper and items printed on both sides, except for mine. One side. We finished our drinks and didn't see our server for awhile. Mind you, only two other tables were occupied. When the server finally returned we asked for the check and left. It was a very disappointing experience. My father always said "you can never go back." He sure was right. The picture below was from...
