First, the menu is exactly the same as Acadia Lobster but with a different business info at the bottom. Either they’re owned by the same business or they shared the word file. Second, the food was fine. The ambiance was weird when we were there, there is ZERO ventilation where people are ordering (and obviously no one was wearing masks!) so that was weirdly distressing. (We’re vaccinated but it was super strange to be inside a tiny dark room with 10 people who’s vaccinated status was questionable and the door wasn’t even open.) There were also no trash cans. No where to put used trays. 🤷🏼♀️ I had to go back in and ask what to do with stuff at the end of the meals. And the patio needed a good sweeping cause the spiders and ants were intense. The salt, pepper and sauce bottles were are grossly sticky, as were the tables. Had they been really busy I probably wouldn’t mention it since I know everyone is understaffed, but the guys working there were out throwing around a football when we pulled in. The kid at the counter seemed to be capable and the food came out fast. The fries were soggy. The pulled pork was great and my burger was tasty. So it was okay. But with lots of things other good places, we’ll skip a return visit.

I had joked with my boyfriend about wanting to find good barbecue in Maine, because well, it's lobster country. When we saw Smokey's BBQ & Lobster Pound on the way to Acadia for the day, I thought two things: 1) what is a lobster pound? And 2) obviously we have to try the barbecue. After a long day ar Acadia, we stopped in to check it out. We split the lobster and barbecue (got ribs on staff recommendation) dinner and added on a side. Wow! Our meal came out with a wonderful presentation. We wasted no time getting into it. After enjoying the claws, we went in for ribs, which easily came from the bones but were not falling off. Perhaps they could have had a little bit more smoke to the flavor, but they were delicious nonetheless. We got potato salad and baked beans for our side, along with corn. Salad and beans were phenomenal. For all parts of this meal, is was very clear that everything had been made fresh for that day. Food aside, dining areas inside and out were clean. We did not wait long for our food to come and the staff were friendly and kind. I'm glad I saw this place and would recommend it to others.

Everything we ate was delicious. The lobster was perfect, and the lightly flavored butter that came with the smoked lobster was great too. I was happy to see the restaurant was generous enough to serve up a whole corn on the cob, and it was quite fresh. The onion clusters were seriously awesome - I wish more restaurants served up onion rings this way! The thinner breading really let the onion shine through and the clumpiness of them made it strangely satisfying to eat. So good. I had a bite of my companion's bbq beans, and the bits of meat in there were melt-in-your-mouth kinda good. I think I'll have to get them for myself next time. My companion was happy with his ribs as well. But yes, everything we had was delicious. The no-frills building, friendly service, and delicious meal really made us feel at home. My singular complaint is that it was a bit warm in there! I'm not sure I'd want to go to this restaurant on a blazing-hot day, but I suppose there aren't too many of those in Maine. They have outdoor seating as well, so maybe we should have sat outside! We'll be back for sure.

This place is brilliant. It doesn't look much from the outside but the service and the food are absolutely top notch. We had a lobster roll and a half rack of ribs with baked beans and coleslaw. It was all delicious. The lobster in the roll was succulent, full of flavour and had just the right amount of sauce, and the brioche bun complimented it superbly. The half rack of ribs was chunky and full of meat which was juicy and tender. The baked beans were tangy and sweet, and the coleslaw was interesting, unlike anything I've had before (it even had pineapple in). We also had some blueberry pie with ice cream, which was ok but not the highlight by far, maybe just because it was past peak blueberry season when we visited. Only complaints I would have are that there were a few flies buzzing round which was a bit annoying, and the seats lacked support. Think it would be worth investing just a bit in improving the appearance of the joint, but still more than worth a visit, I'm sad that I'll likely never be able to go back, or at least not for a long time.

Awesome spot for some Lobstahh. Very cool bbq pit/lobster joint.. These guys proclaim they'll smoke anything once. The inside seemed a bit small and crammed so we sat outside at the seating area on the small porch that had a view of a larger seating area on a large patio. There were baggo boards set up by both locations which was cool. The bbq smell was in the air for our whole visit- at an enjoyable nasal volume. Very laid back spot. 5 stars for ambiance. The food was great- lobster roll was par but the clam strips were fire. Bbq was even better than expected. 5 stars The drinks we had were awesome. I had an IPA that I wasn't crazy about and she had a water. Both liquids were very cold. 5 stars for drinks. The service wasn't great but we didn't care because the atmosphere was too chill to harsh any mellows. 5 stars for service? I'll be back next time I head to Mount Desert Island. Thanks for having us over.

After wrapping up the Ship Harbor trail the wife and daughters were really hungry for seafood for our last night on our Maine road trip. It was about 7:00pm and most seafood shacks we knew of were closing at 7:30. Then we found Smokies, open till 9. That was a great find. We got a local brewed beer, bar food onion clusters (rings), clam chowder, fried shrimp, a Connecticut lobster roll (shhhh!), and smoked lobster. The smoked lobster was pretty good but only the tail is smoked with spices, the shrimp was fried well with a thin batter which is better, and the hot lobster roll was really good and my daughter loved it. As sides the Cole slaw was good and the bbq beans were fantastic. The waitress was very nice and the food came out real fast. The place looks like a real dive and well it is....but the food is fantastic and it is clean. If you're in the area you should really try this place.
