The service is nice but their food is another story. We got 6 items to try. Sugar cookie sandwich Blueberry scone Brownie Salted caramel brownie Some sort of cake drizzled in chocolate Peanut butter chocolate chip cookie
Sugar cookie sandwich- not bad but not wow. Honestly Publix makes better sugar cookies. These lack enough butter to make the flavor pop. Nothing wow at all!
Scone- too moist for a scone and the flavor is bland.
Brownie- too much coffee flavoring. Seriously back off the coffee. I want chocolate not coffee in my brownie. Oh and I went to culinary school. I know coffee is to be in it but it’s an ACCENT not the main flavor
Salted caramel brownie- bland. Lacks a wow factor
Cake thing drizzled in chocolate- probably my favorite but that’s because the others were that bad. This gets 3 stars until you get to the center and it gets -6 stars. No idea what’s in the middle but ew.
PB chocolate chip cookie- it’s a pb cookie with chocolate chips on top. Lacks butter. Lacks wow.
This place isn’t a southern bakery. It’s a hipster joint that caters to the alphabet oh I’m allergic to life people.
Did I mention prices? $35 for 6 items… I’m ok with that providing I don’t spit out the food. For what we got this place is over priced and not worth it.
Not going back. I’d rather go to Publix which is sad. This town NEEDS a good bakery This...
Read moreBest gluten free baked goods I’ve ever had anywhere - hands down. My wife is not gluten free and is a pretty good at-home baker herself, and she LOVES it too. We drive an hour+ each way from SC just to go here and then take a bunch home to freeze…and then somehow find ourselves going back there 2 weeks later when we see on their Facebook page what new creative yummy stuff Jamie is coming up with. Not kidding! Everything is great, but the brownies, cheesecakes, and sticky buns are particularly out of this world - all are the best I’ve ever had anywhere.
The owner is very nice and incredibly passionate/dedicated to what she does. She is a true blessing to the gluten free community, and the sky is the limit on her potential as a baker. The staff is also extraordinary - they’re like one big family.
Note that they do sell out of stuff often but THIS IS PART OF WHAT MAKES THEM SO GOOD because everything is fresh and new/creative and not from the previous day - follow them on Facebook to see what they have and place your order online. I’ve had other very popular gluten free bakeries where you buy stuff that is days old and it shows. Troutman takes too much pride and puts so much passion into what they do to sell you anything other than a top notch product every single time.
I wish I could give this bakery more than 5 stars because...
Read moreWe asked for a half strawberry,-half lemonade birthday cake for my mother on her 97th birthday and family reunion. I asked on the phone if they would be pouring a liquid over the cake because we didn't want that. It makes the consistency gooey. They said no. My husband picked up the cake the day before and when he got home with it there was a crack from top to bottom . He assured me he was careful carrying it to the car. I attempted to smooth out the icing but gave up. The next morning one half had settled and more cracks had appeared overnight. Also, the writing was pretty amateurish. My husband called after we got home and left a message about this cracking situation. We heard no reply. Thankfully it was all family and we just laughed it off. Lastly, the cake on both sides were gooey like something liquid was poured over the top which was off-putting. We threw out what wasn't eaten because nobody wanted to take any home. We have bought several things from this bakery and were very pleased . This was not a...
