Munoz Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Trussville

Munoz is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town! Some of the best food and the best margaritas. The salsa is delicious and goes great with the chorizo dip (or plain cheese dip is chorizo isn’t your thing!) I used to always love the #39 Munoz Special with steak (steak over rice with cheese), but lately I’ve been moving on.. a little more plain and basic but you can’t go wrong with the beef soft tacos (add grilled onion if you’re feeling wild).. and I know it’s not really Mexican cuisine but sometimes I’m just craving chicken fingers and with as wild as it sounds… Munoz has some of THE best chicken fingers!!!! I’m not an avocado lover so the chicken soup isn’t for me, but I’ve never seen anyone order it and not love it!! The beef and steak burrito are also both amazing. I’ve never had something here I didn’t love and if you do - the staff is amazing and will fix it for you. They have great deals on margaritas. Amazing happy hour deals Monday-Thursday. (Also the half and half margaritas are so good - half frozen, half on the rocks… don’t knock it until you try it!!!) We have eaten here a several times. Our experience with the servers and hostess staff is fair at best. The servers are not friendly. They have horrible follow up. The girls at the register are not warm or friendly, very dry. Seems more like they are bothered by our patronage rather than grateful for it. The food is ok. We have overlooked these things and continued to spend our money in this establishment because of the convenience and location. However last night was unbearable. We placed a to go order of just tacos. We asked that they leave off the lettuce so that if we needed to do a warm up at home, we would not have hot soggy lettuce. The wait for a to go order was over 45 minutes. They were busy, but how long does it take to get 8 tacos and extra salsa ready to go. No one felt the need to do any follow up. No "sorry for the wait" " thank you for your patience". When we did finally get the order home it was cold, which we prepared for by asking that they leave off the lettuce, which they did not. They did not even care enough to get the order correct. For 8 tacos we were given a very small container of salsa. We will in the future skip this establishment and opt for an establishment that value...

I literally watched two birthdays be taken seperately and considerately. They took drink orders on time. Food orders on time as well. Of course the staff are circling about with concerned eyebrows of whether or not they are appropriately attending the environment with tip worthy courtesy. As the food came the comedy show began. As the plates description being called out as it was on auction and, the staff placement of the food ( musical chairs ) came to mind as it was not at all a regular visit. However, they were very busy. The food was presented well. And, smiles on the obviously overwhelmed tired staff was the kind of thing you appreciate knowing you were tired and came to their business to eat. I have to say having worked in the food industry in many positions, this place gets a vote from me. Good job...
