Wooden Nickel Tavern — Restaurant in Tucson

Do not go to this place. Even though this a dive bar in an old building, this place is very clean. I had a bad feeling pulling up to this place. The location is not ideal. The employees are extremely condescending and rude. The bartender seemed to have a problem giving me change for the pool table, and she was not shy about showing attitude. I was with a group of my fiance's work friends. One of her friends accidentally sat and pushed my drink off and broke the glass. This should not have been a problem, but it was. There were no places nearby to set drinks down, and there were a lot of drinks set there. I tried to order another drink and our friend the bartender with the piss-poor attitude told me I was cut off. I had only gotten the one drink, which was the only drink I had thus far. I asked why and she said because someone in my group was too drunk. I said that's fine I can go elsewhere, which seemed to confuse the poor thing. I turned to return to my group, and some girl was in my fiance's face being very loud, insulting, and physically threatening. My fiance was minding her own business, and come to find out this aggressive female also works at this place. So I pulled everyone out of there before things could get worse. I dont think I've ever seen such a backwards run...

Bring an appetite! I was on an out of town trip, supporting our Tucson location. One of my coworkers suggested this place because they're known for their wings. I bought the 8 piece wings and an order of loaded tots. Man! These wings are cut off some big ol yard bird. Extremely crispy skin (which is a must) and the habenero mango sauce is perfectly sweet and spicy. Now onto these tots. Also very crispy (possibly double fried) plenty of nacho cheese, green onion, bacon pieces and sour cream. Let me tell you, the average couple could order this and leave comfortably full. For a single diner such as myself, it was a bit too much food. All said and done, with a drink included, my tab came to $19.50, which is pretty standard for eating just about anywhere these days. So if you're in the neighborhood, don't pass...

Well, after my 2nd visit here within 2 months I had to take away my 5 star rating and give it a 2 based not on the food, but on the poor customer service at the bar. Bartender never asked if I wanted a second drink. I asked for a glass of water and she said ok then stopped to chat with the people next to me, went to clean some tables, went to the register and I twice said "excuse me" before she turned around. I asked for a glass of water again and she said ' just a minute.' Really?? I already waited 10 minutes since the first time I asked! I asked for a box to take the rest of my wings home, since the service sucked so bad then she says she's supposed to charge me $2 if I take my wings to go. REALLY?? IF you had been doing your job, I would have eaten the wings there! So, WINGS and Tots are great! ...
