I love my tacos and wish the tortillas were sometimes less dry and more flavorful. Birria is exactly what I'm looking for and Grumpys does not disappoint! Birria tacos are more pricey than normal tacos, but I think it's worth it. Food here is as filling as any other spot so price may seem intimidating, but you will likely be full or satisfied from one to one and a half items, so averaging $10-15 a person.
To start, they have a large parking lot which is extremely convenient and easily makes the trip and experience worthwhile. No need to drive around looking for parking and eventually deciding to park far away and having to walk.
I heard the crunch wrap was the MVP and the birria ramen is a pass, so I definitely took note of that. Birria ramen sounds so interesting but I believe it's unconventional for a reason and probably isn't as good as birria tacos. However, it is cheap for ramen so maybe worthwhile trying.
Crunchwrap - the downside is that this item lays on a bed of oil. Very messy but flavorful. At first the outside looked dry so we were like okay cool, we have the birria from the tacos to dip. We didn't need it, but it did taste better dipped! The inside was saucy (and greasy) so it was not dry at all.
Quesabirria tacos - a much cleaner option than the crunchwrap, these birria tacos are not leaking oil. We opted for the quesabirria over the birria taco because cheese sounded good. They're pretty solid on their own but the birria dip was fantastic. Rich broth that's not overwhelming and it enhances the tacos.
Would definitely order both items again, but lean towards the quesabirria tacos for ease of eating and being a more simple item. Not to say the crunchwrap wasn't good, but it's definitely a...
Read moreUpdate: Ordered again tonight and it was much better! Glad it was a one off thing. Chicken was juicy and delicious, salsas were actually spicy and really tasty, everything came hot and fresh tasting despite being delivered! My only critiques are that 1. The bread on my torta was burnt, not a dealbreaker. 2. Please i am actually begging you to switch your salsa to portion cups instead of plastic bags. The salsa was soo yummy but so hard to eat out of the bags! The knots are tied so tight it’s impossible to untie and getting the salsa out is just a hot mess

The first time we tried this place it was sooo good but today we got it and it was pretty disappointing :( the fries in particular, the fries were soo burnt they were almost black and it ruined the taste, they also in my opinion needed more pico and cheese and less meat. I’m not sure if they’re using different salsa because the first time i had it it was really good, but today both salsas were honestly kinda bland and disappointing. I also wish they would give onions and cilantro like most taco places do. Onto the positives- The chicken has great flavor, and the consome is delicious. Maybe it was just a bad day for them, and I’ll definitely try it again because the first time it...
Read moreLooks pretty. Food is incredibly expensive. Us and our two kids spent $100 and we didn’t even get rice and beans with our food or soda. Entree only. And the food was subpar and not very flavorful. The lady never came back to refill our drinks and it took 20 minutes to even get the drinks in the first place. They have an OK rating and just barely meet the minimum requirements from the health dept posted on their door. And the salsa. Why is it blended and smooth? And why are they giving out salsa so hot my kids got physically sick with no disclaimer to how hot it is? Even me, a person with a high spice tolerance and hispanic background, it was just too hot. Chips and salsa is our favorite thing to get and this just wasn’t it.
It’s a cute place if you have a lot of money to spend on food. Two tacos (street taco size) with rice and beans added was $22+ per their menu. I’m sure some people love it but this is the info i wish we had before we came in.
*really high price tag *menu items don’t come with a side *inattentive service (hope you aren’t thirsty) *very spicy salsa that is not traditional salsa *not very...
