Since I'm a Texan, after reading the menu, I felt called out to make a stop to check it out. First thing I noticed: No smell of smoke outside or inside from a smoker. In Texas, I would have given y'all 3 stars for decent BBQ, possibly in my Top 10 around Texas. In Tennessee, 4 stars. It's worth folks stopping in for a bite to eat. The wings were delicious. Also, the ribs are good, and the sweet potato casserole is good. I've never had a potato salad that tasted the way this one does, but it was good. It's made different in Texas (different influence). The Brisket: It was good, a tad bit dry but just about not noticeable. No smoky taste or aroma that I noticed, which is different. Folks should still get some brisket. It's good and tender. The BBQ sauce: Entirely different from Texas BBQ sauce. This was my first Tennessee BBQ sauce experience, so I don't feel I can give an experienced review on it. "Hot" is hotter in Texas. Now, the homemade fried pies. They seemed baked, not fried, but maybe they weren't fried very long. Go ahead and try these out. If the dough were a little thicker, they'd been pretty close to tasting like my great-grandmother's homemade fried pies. They're good. It's definitely a BBQ place to stop in for a visit. Especially if you're Texan. Anyone else, as well.

Went for a Valentine's Day lunch today with the hubby. It was our first time visiting, and it was a very pleasant experience. We started with the fresh pork rinds. There should have been a warning on the menu that the portions are large enough to feed 4-6 people. The hubby ordered the pulled pork platter with a loaded baked potato and macaroni and cheese. I ordered the barrel head sampler with fried okra and green beans, and we both had the sweet cornbread. The meat on the ribs just fell off the bone, and the brisket was exceptionally tender. The chicken was delicious with their Alabama white sauce, and the green beans were some of the tastiest I've ever had. Everything was good, but we ended up bringing about a pound of the meat home. VERY large portions VERY reasonably priced. Our waitress was Mela and she was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

We love Whiskey Trail and visit often. Occasionally they are shirt staffed leaving a bit of a wait on food or refills, but they always serve with a smile. I love their salad bar for when I want something light. But we also love all the fat and grease and richness of BBQ. The chicken tenders and catfish are family favorites with large portions. Fried okra is always a winner and the loaded potato salad perfectly creamy. Their smoked meats are served tender, juicy and full of flavor. Whether in the mood for ribs or brisket, you will leave with a full belly and maybe a little sauce lingering on the lips if you enjoyed them correctly. Be sure to try the white bbq sauce if you like rich and tangy! Amd ask for some banana pudding if you still habe room at the end (we rarely do) All in all, always a tasty trip to Whiskey Trail.

I absolutely love the food here. Especially since they offer gluten free options. I have been here several times in the last few months. However, tonight has me thinking about never returning.

I asked the hostess for the gluten free menu, as I always do. She was great and brought it right to me.

The waitress came over to take my order. Seeing me with the gluten free menu and aware that I am ordering off of it. This menu is just typed out and kind of basic, which is not a problem.

Since my dinner came with two sides, I asked what came on the baked potato because the menu I had doesn’t tell. The waitress said it only came with butter and sour cream. I asked to add some shredded cheese. She said that was no problem. Never mentioned anything about an up charge.

Again, the waitress sees me and aware that I was ordering off the gluten free menu. After placing my order, she follows up with asking if I would like rolls or cornbread. I understand some people don’t truly know what gluten free means so I said “no, thank you”. She acted as though that annoyed her and turned to walk off. Yes girl, I saw the eye roll.

A different waitress brought the food to the table. Barely get a few bites in and the original waitress comes back asking if I need a box or to-go-cup. Then leaves the ticket and says “no rush”. Literally only had my food for like 10 minutes. Felt as though she most definitely intended to rush.

Not really paying attention, food is paid for and then it’s noticed that $2.99 is added to my meal. Called her back over to inquire about the additional charge. The waitress stated that when cheese is added to a baked potato, it is now considered a loaded baked potato. And that is an additional $2.99!!

I asked her why she didn’t make me aware of that when I ordered and she stated that it was on the menu. I explained that it is not written on the gluten free menu that I ordered from. She states that she can’t help what the restaurant charges and walks away.

This waitress then has the audacity to bring back the regular menu to show me where the charge is listed. I again tell her that I did not have that menu!!

I will definitely know better next time… if there is a next time. Very disappointed in this...

To start with the hostess walked to our table and set the flatware down, turned and walked away. She met us as we rounded the corner and said sit over there. She must be the owner's daughter,, lol. We ordered our meal and appitizers. Our meal showed before our appitizers. We ordered the BBQ sampler platter. And for appitizers we had mozzarella sticks and loaded fries. $6.99 for 6 cheese sticks, and $7.99 for fries. The fries were steak fries covered with cheese,,,, that's it.. Not very loaded. I got coleslaw and baked beans as my sides. The coleslaw needed more dressing... Dry as bone. The beans were very good. The BBQ platter,, well there wasn't much BBQ, just on the ribs. The PULLED chicken, pork, and beef had NONE. There was BBQ sause on the table but damn it was NASTY as Hell. The sweet sause tasted like fruit. The mild was about the same but spicier. I didn't try the hot. The meat was OK... Not great, but I've had worse(praters). I would like to go back and try the steak. But I would Never get the pulled meat or BBQ again. All and all our meal cost over $50 plus tip. We had a diet soda and a sweet tea. No beer,,, no alcohol. Drink, platter meal, and...
