Budae-jjigae, Clean out the refrigerator soup! If I made it at home, I would describe it as a very, very good clean out the refrigerator soup! I saw this on the menu prior to visiting the restaurant and had to look it up on Wikipedia. Their description is interesting; â (ë¶ëì°ê°; literally "army base stew") or spicy sausage stew.â It is worth the time to read about the origin this traditional Korean dish. On the Korean Garden menu it is called Spicy Soldier Sausage Stew. It has quite a list of ingredients. What is served here has ham, Spam, tofu, chicken, beef, hot dog, thin sliced pork belly, cabbage, mushrooms, carrots, green onion, jalapeno slices, and zucchini. Iâm sure I missed something. When the waiter described the ingredients I stopped him at ham and Spam and said âthat is what I want!!â I am glad I did. It hit the spot like the best bowl chili you have ever had on a cold winter day! The soup is delivered literally boiling hot to your table. It was great on todayâs cold wet day in Tulsa. My wife initially asked for the Bulgogi noodles. The waiter quickly recommended that she try something else. The waiter said, unless you have had it before you may not like it. He said what most people donât like about it is the chewy texture of the noodles. Thank you! That was helpful! She went with the dayâs special Beef Yaki udon. Again a little help from Wikipedia âYaki udon (çŒăăă©ă, "fried udon") is a Japanese stir fry dish consisting of thick, smooth, white udon noodles mixed with a soy based sauce, meat (usually pork), and vegetables.â It too was a very good meal! We started the meal with an order of with the edamame. The restaurant serves the traditional banchan side dishes. They were all good. The kimchi cucumbers were excellent! I had to have seconds on that! The restaurant is clean, comfortable and I would add the word cozy. I am guessing that this is a small family run business. The waiter was friendly and helpful. I am no Korean food expert, but I really liked the food. It is certainly some of the...
Read moreI gave a good review but, I hope the owner or participants party of this event Iâm going to mentioned read this. In 2024 I was pregnant and was craving for Korean Garden food but I was always craving soft tofu for the whole week. I love Korean Garden, so I bring my husband, and my bestfriend along with me. I canât eat spicy either so I ordered Bibimbap and asked for soft tofu in my bibimbap. The waiter first told me it would be okay and came back saying they canât add soft tofu in my bibimbap. All of us were like âhmm why notâ disappointed but we took it. But the usual cashier was sitting right behind us talking in english about how âbibimbap is not supposed to be eaten with soft tofu. Itâs not Koreanâ . He talk as if I didnât exist or maybe he think I donât speak english. When you crave, you crave. So it was not the korean way of bibimbap but maybe pregnant crave way of bibimbap should be allowed as well. I rate it very excellent still because up until that incident I always go to Korean garden whenever I have the money to go to restaurants. I always loved the food. I am rating my experience in 2024 because, I am now craving bibimbap soft tofu again, but traumatize. Invite me to eat bibimbap with soft tofu regardless of what your âusual or traditionalâ way is. Jkjk. I hope the owner or the very person who didnât allow the soft tofu in the bibimbap because it was not the usual will let me come back to korean garden. I missed going there. If you comment âbibimbap with soft tofu allowedâ i will come right away! Itâs a weird crave but let the pregnant ladies have what they want. If you say âmake your own at homeâ then fine. I just love the korean...
Read moreMade a rare trip to T-town today and decided to give Korea Garden a shot for lunch. I had bulgogi on the brain, but wanted someplace new, so this was it. As it turns out, the bulgogi yen got kicked to the curb by all the pictures of the stir fried pork belly and squid in other reviews, so I decided that was the fare for the day. Seating was prompt and the young man was prompt with a drink and a menu. While not huge, there are enough options to please just about anyone, in a variety of price ranges to boot. For today, I restrained myself with a starter of fried pork dumplings and the aforementioned stir fried pork belly and squid. The dumplings are arguably an appetizer, since there were nearly a dozen of them in the order. I could have almost made a meal of just those alone, and been quite happy. In short order, the entree and all the trimmings arrived. I won't begin to guess what the banchan sides consist of, but they're all good. The entree itself was very well done. A couple of the pieces of squid were a little chewy, but overall, properly cooked. The pork belly slices were tender and well seasoned and the overall dish nicely balanced with just a taste of heat. I regret that I did leave a couple of the dumplings behind.... I just couldn't find room. Very enjoyable experience with good food and great service. I highly recommend...
