Bishop's BBQ Grill — Restaurant in Tupelo

My boyfriend and I called in an order over the phone and was told it would take 10-15mins. We arrived, and I approached the counter and proceeded to pay for for my food (it took a minute for anyone to acknowledge my presence), but there was a guy that came from the back and took my “money” & walked off. There was a bag placed on the counter but I was never told it was our food. At this time one one was at the counter so I went to sit on the benches underneath the window (next to 2 other women). After about 30 mins I asked the ladies next to me if they’ve been waiting awhile….. they said “YES”!!!!! I got the attention of a waitress and asked her…. “Is this my food” and to my surprise it was!!!!! I asked if the other ladies (strangers) food was ready, and to our SURPRISE, it too was lined on the counter (no one) said anything to them either. Oh, and did I mention there was only about 5 ppl in the restaurant. Needless to say… I was FURIOUS!!!! I WILL NEVER STEP A FOOT BACK IN THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!! Now I will let you draw your own conclusion(s) about how/why this happened, but before I end this know….. the ladies and I are of the same ethnicity (sitting on the bench) & all the other customers was of a different race (treated like royalty). I have been a fan off Bishops for years but if this last visit was in the earlier times I am pretty sure I wouldn't return. For one the staff leaves alot to be desired as they are short with you, won't look at you, sure don't smile but yet make sure to ask for a tip when you order. I ordered the fried catfish and it was good. My husband ordered the Ribs plate and was given some dried up looking bones about the size of a hand with little meat. Beside all these things what really burnt me so much was the cost of these 2 plates was $44 and we still left hungry. I realize that prices are up everywhere I really do but come on they are ridiculous with $20 fish plates where you get 2 little pieces of fish and hush puppies so dry they will choke you with about 10 fries then $20 for a palm size rack of ribs that has such little meat it wouldn't fill a child up. I felt robbed and have no plans...

I loved the food here. Great little spot. I ordered the catfish meal. It was spectacular. They have great pies. My husband would disagree. That's why the 1 stars. He ordered a oyster plate. We were on the road and took our order to go. The employees were distracted having a argument. We got our food and drove off. His oyster plate was a dry hamburger,. Piece of toast. Very upset spending 13 dollars on a dry burger with nothing on it. No side just a hamburger party and a piece of toast. Don't know where confusion was on order. At the time he was very angry but we'd drove to far to turn around. It makes for a humerous story though. Not sure if the face mask muffled his voice but we decided oyster plate sounds nothing like dry hamburger...
