If you’re craving quality sushi or Thai food in Tuscaloosa, look no further than Shiki’s! Located in the old Tokyo spot, this gem is an absolute must-try. As someone who’s a bit of a sushi and Thai snob (yes, I’ve been to Thailand, and yes, I want my Thai food done right), I was seriously impressed.

Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The menu has a great variety, and I was thrilled to find out they’re open for both lunch and dinner (just not on Mondays — fair enough). Lunch runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner picks back up from 4 to 9 p.m.

And the cherry on top? They deliver through Uber Eats! Game changer. My little girl and I were both excited — her for the noodles, me for the spider roll… my husband had Pad Thai and my job adventurous eater ate chicken and fries 🤷🏻‍♀️ Shiki’s just earned a permanent spot on our go-to list. I recently ordered takeout from Shiki Japanese Thai Sushi Bar in Tuscaloosa, and it was an outstanding experience! Even for takeout, the food maintained its excellent quality and presentation.

The pad Thai was a highlight. It arrived perfectly cooked, with a great balance of flavors. The noodles were tender, the vegetables fresh, and the sauce was deliciously savory with a hint of sweetness. Each bite was a wonderful combination of textures and tastes that left me wanting more.

I also tried the Vulcan roll, and it was a true culinary delight. The roll was expertly prepared, even for takeout, with a beautiful presentation and an amazing taste. The combination of ingredients provided a delightful mix of flavors.

This is a fairly newer restaurant and I’m upset I didn’t know about it sooner. My boyfriend and I went in tonight for dinner to which we were not disappointed! The service was excellent, giving us lots of time to decide, offering quick refills without being asked, as well as starting nice conversation. The outside of the restaurant does not do justice to the nicely decorated and lively interior. The sushi was very fresh and we were even close enough to partially see it being made. Our favorite was the Last Call roll!! The tofu in the veggie delite was one of the best I’ve ever tasted in a restaurant.
