We can no longer recommend!
The Beijing Garden really doesn't have eat-in. They have a make-shift counter and 2-3 tables, one usually being reserved for staff. Plus, it's pretty dingy.
We have ordered from them throughout the years, so I feel qualified to note the changes in their food and prices. Their prices have gone up and up to the point of being a little pricey for takeout, especially considering they have less overhead due to being takeout.
The food at one time was worth the cost. The serving sizes were adequate and the food was packaged nicely for takeout. Now, the food comes in plastic or Styrofoam containers, and then put in a plastic bag resulting in food that does not stay as hot as when it was placed in traditional paper/cardboard containers and then placed in a paper bag to go. And the serving sizes do seem smaller. I know we used to make 2 meals from our order, but not so now. And we actually eat less than we used to. As noted, the food, both in quality and taste, used to be worth the cost, but not anymore to us. There seems to be too much cornstarch and salt being added to the sauces, such as the Moo Goo Gai pan. It looks congealed and is slimy in texture with being overly salty. Plus, there is very little chicken in the small portion @$12 price tag. The Dragon and Phoenix (@ $15.95) is half Gen Tso Chicken and half Jumbo Shrimp with veggies in a white sauce. The white sauce is congealed and very salty, similar to the Moo Goo sauce. The vegetables are soggy and slimy too. The dumplings in the Won Ton Soup seem smaller with minimal filling. The Egg Rolls appear half their size and the filling is pretty much tasteless. The Crab Rangoon, which we stopped ordering sometime ago, are soft and lukewarm because they are now packaged in Styrofoam...the same with the Fried Sweet Donuts. Plus, both the Crab Rangoon and Donuts seem not to be consistently made. Our last 2 orders were burned and cold. I cannot believe they actually let them leave the kitchen cooked like that!
With a heavy heart, I can no longer recommend Beijing Garden and must now find a new place to order...
Read moreI placed an order a couple weeks ago and the lady who took my delivery order told me there was a $15 charge for delivery. I asked when they had implemented the charge and she told me that they've always had it. This struck me as odd so I then asked if she meant charge or minimum. She meant minimum. After my order i was at $13.50 and told her to give me 15 fortune cookies to make up the difference since it was 10 for $1. She then told me that she didn't know how much they actually were so she was just going to charge me $2 for them. After all this I gave her the card number. When she asked for the expiration I told her it was September 2017. Then she asked me if I could tell her the number month because she didn't know when September was on the calendar. What? Now when I call she makes a point of asking me for the month and year...
Read moreI’ve tried so hard to like Beijing Garden. The family that works there seems really nice. The orders lack flavor and are often somewhat wrong. Tonight there was no rice with my bland General Tsao’s chicken (WHICH I ASKED FOR EXTRA SPICY). I’ve asked for my GTC extra spicy the last three times I’ve ordered from Beijing Garden and it never is. Come on - no white rice??? Every time something is missing, or wrong, but we keep going back to support a local local business and because it’s close to our house. But this this time, I’m fed up, I’m writing this review, and I’m looking elsewhere for takeout...
