First time here with the husband. Upon walking in, we weren't sure if we needed to be seated by a staff member or if we were to seat ourselves. Stood there like a bunch of dummies for a few minutes and then decided to just grab a table ourselves. Seems like the regular get better service than the non-regulars. Felt like that in our case anyways. We constantly had to flag down somebody to get something for us and when we ask for something it took forever for them to get it to us. Case in point we ordered our drinks. He got a frozen margarita and I ordered a sweet tea. I immediately asked for a straw when the tea was set in front of me and proceeded to wait and wait and wait and wait. The waiter never came back with my straw. Had to flag down another staff member who was walking by and asked her for a straw. Took a while but she eventually brought me a straw with her hands full of drinks and other stuff for another table so the service was very lacking. As for our waiter, not sure what was going on. There seem to be three or four staff members handling the tables yet as the stated before it took forever for us to receive anything that we requested.
Now on to the food it's edible. Nothing to rave about and I'm not sure why the local love this place so much.
First up chips and salsa. They brought a normal size basket of chips to the table for the two of us and then they brought two different sauces. One red, one green. What threw me off was that the salsas were not served in little bowls. They were served in pancake syrup bottles that you would get at IHOP or someplace like that. Really weird and not very functional, especially for the red salsa which was kind of chunky so it didn't pour out of these funky little bottles easily. They did provide tiny bowls to pour your salsa into which I don't know why they just didn't pour the salsa into the bowl and bring it that way to the table 🤷🏻♀️
First time at any Tex-Mex Mexican restaurant for me is always a enchilada plate with rice and beans. I rate every restaurant on the rice & beans. If you can make amazing rice and beans, I'm pretty sure the rest of the menu will be good. I had refried beans that were absolutely delicious. They weren't completely pureed smashed paste beans. They actually had whole or half pintos smashed into a creamy pinto base. They were absolutely delicious. The husband had the charro beans and he absolutely love them. After a good start, at least the beans, the refried and the charro beans were absolutely delicious. As for my enchilada plate, I had one cheese enchilada with the cheese sauce topping it. And one cheese enchilada with a chili type topping. Unfortunately neither one of these enchiladas were very good. They were not very authentic and not enjoyable. I absolutely love enchiladas and it's my go-to standard at pretty much any restaurant but these were just not for me. As for the side of rice, it had no flavor. Not even a hint of salt. It had a pale yellow color so I thought they would actually taste good because they look good on the plate but they were not good at all.
The husband had ordered shrimp rancheros and he said they were really good. Cooked deliciously and they had the perfect amount of spicy heat to them. They were served with rice and the charro beans which he of course loved.
All in all this place is perfect If you're looking for a margarita or some other type of alcoholic drink. The service is lackluster and very slow. I understand that places are suffering but when a place is not even halfway full and you have plenty of staff to cover these tables, there's no reason for your customers to have to sit and wait and beg to have things...
Read moreVery Nasty food... We like to try new restaurants. I haven't been out to eat in 3 months. And I was soooo disappointed. The service was really bad, slow... only one other table. He made us wait along time. The other table ordered AFTER US and got their food before us... Nothing bothers me more than that!!
The food we got was not authentic mexican food, the chips..we had to ask for. the 2 sauces, 1 green was really bad, and the other red one was ok. there was only enough chips for 1 person. There were 3 of us. the food had no flavor, my boyfriend ordered a burrito and it said Verde sauce would be over it, with rice and beans. He didn't get any sauce and no beans? He's a big guy and only got a really small bad tasteless burrito. there was no flavor in my sons tostados either. just bad hamburger with no spices and a lot of lettuce,,, The guacamole on his plate was avocado and water. Nasty. When I got my fajita chimichunga I expected fajita meat. I got smelly deepfried tortilla with boiled chicken in it.. No onions ,peppers not grilled or sauteed meat, no cheese like it said. The rice and beans were the. worst ever. I felt sooo bad my boyfriend asked me out to eat and we went there, he wasted his money. When I was trying to eat this, another couple came in and ordered the fish....NEEDLESS TO SAY.. I went to through up.. fish was soooooooooooooo off. You could smell it sooo bad, It was just gross We had to leave. will...
Read moreWe have dined at this restaurant many times. It was our go to place for Mexican food and Tyler however tonight night my husband my mother and myself stopped in for dinner my husband ordered fajitas my mother and I each had a chicken chimichangas The chicken was spoiled spoiled we asked the waitress to exchange it for beef she said she would have to get the manager a lady came to the table I assume she was the manager and told us that they didn’t take food back and that we would have to purchase something to replace it in addition to paying for the spoiled entrées. We told her we were just not eating it. At the checkout my husband said neither my wife nor my mother-in-law ate any of their chimichanga I don’t feel like we should be charged for something that is not edible the lady after a few minutes decided to give us 50% off of one of them and we ended up paying full price for the other we did not get so much as we’re sorry I hope you come back give us another chance the lady was actually quite rude. We never had this happen there before however they won’t do it to us again because we will not be returning and I would not recommend them to anyone for one thing if you have spoiled chicken in your kitchen you’re not rotating your food very well therefore I was being generous by giving...
