The Village Pantry — Restaurant in Tyrone

Worst pulled pork sandwich we have ever eaten. We placed a take out order for 5 pulled pork sandwiches and the person who prepared our sandwich order gave us 5 burnt, crispy, and dried out pulled pork sandwiches. Eating it felt like I was chewing card board, the BBQ sauce couldn't even mask the taste. The person who prepared the sandwiches knew she had given us bad food because she admitted as much when we called to complain. She apologized for given us the dried out end of the meat and offered to replace the one sandwich that was still in the packaging. I really thought that was quite funny because all 5 sandwiches were bad, she knew they were bad because she prepared the food but she would only replace the one sandwich that hadn't been touched. Like I'm going to drive all the way back there for one sandwich. Sorry not going to happen. The Village Pantry took my money and knowingly gave me a bad product in return. I wasn't given the option to wait for fresh meat or the option to order something else, they simply packaged up the bad food, took my money and let me drive home to discover the food tasted like cardboard. And in the end they didn't even offer me an acceptable solution to the problem they created. Too bad zero stars...

We live close & visit VP often. I love the unique items you cannot get at other places like raw sugar, their own brownie or cookie mix, and very inexpensive spices. The deli meats are better priced than elsewhere. The hot bar and salad bar are nice to have…. A one stop shop for groceries and to eat. Dine in the dining room or take out. At the deli, we enjoy the ability to order hot sandwiches…MTO. They also offer ice cream and milkshakes…. Large portions! I love the huge variety of packaged nuts, chocolates, snacks, etc. There is also an area of specialty homemade canned items. The store really has so much to offer. Many out of towners come to Tyrone just to visit here. The staff is super friendly, always, and on the off hours many of them do kind things for community members, espec the elderly. Only downside is some of the grocery items are very high priced, but that is to be expected at a small store. The produce is often old also. But the perks outweigh that. Consider their catering or above the store room rental for events. They offer A LOT...

Party of 4 last evening, ( April 25 2023) 2 had the port ribs. They were not done, and very tough. It was mentioned to the staff, and someone came out( I assume a manger) and we were informed , that they were cooked property, and they were fine. I mentioned how tough they were, but he didn't say anymore , and just left. No offer to make it right. Now one of those, with the uncooked ribs, was a professional cook , who spent many years, working at Westminster Woods retirement home Huntingdon. We had also run into another couple whom one had gotten ribs.They were very tough also. 3 meals ruined, because of uncooked food, an a poor reponse ,from management. No offer of a substitute, and or apology. The rest of our food was fine, but the ribs, not being safe to eat, were thrown away. Have eaten here before , and was always satisfied.
