I was in Tacoma to see my daughter get married. Just a simple rose garden ceremony and then they went home to relax after lunch and we decided we were going to do dinner later in the evening.
My daughter is a big fan of Chicago deep dish pizza so I set about finding a place to have dinner with her and her new husband. After a lot of looking around trying to find an actual place that did deep dish, really this was the only one I found that did authentic Chicago style deep dish. So off to dinner!
Looking over their menu when we finally got there, it was nice because it is not overburdened like I see a lot of places. When talking to the woman at the register, she explained to my daughter what each style of pizza was and how they were. We settled on the quad pizza. I was surprised that there were not a ton of people in the restaurant for dinner on a Friday night, but it was nice to not have to shout over others and be able to actually talk. I hope next time I am back that has changed.
I was a little saddened that they did not have salads on their menu yet, but the pizza was worth the wait. Huge disclaimer on their page and in the restaurant that the deep dish takes approximately 45 minutes to make and cook. It did take just under that time frame, most likely due to not too busy. I would have waited longer for the pizza to be honest, it was good.
I loved the crispy cheese on the outside of the crust and the gooiness of the melted cheese. The dough had a good flavor and the sauce was nice as well. I appreciated the saltiness of the pizza, which was not too overpowering and made the flavors come out. I am not traditionally a just cheese pizza kind of guy and that is what my daughter wanted, so that is what we got. Its about them, not me that day. I cannot wait to go back again next time I am in Tacoma. to anyone reading, do yourself a favor and check them out. It was worth the...
Read moreWords cannot fully describe how much this may be my new favorite pizza place. My bf would talk about how he missed a good chicago style pizza. After hearing some good reviews, as well as a good recommendation from a friend, they suggested I should come here for a good chicago pie. As soon as I told bf we were going to come here, his eyes lit up because it had been years since he had a good chicago pie.
Getting to the place itself was a bit confusing since it was tucked away behind other buildings but we eventually figured it out. As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted by the owners and they were sooo sweet and so accommodating that it felt like we went to a friend's house for dinner. Hearing about their dreams of having a pizza shop that sold a true deep dish pizza was so heartfelt that it made the pizza taste better. You could tell the owners put a lot of thought and love into the pizza. The place was also clean, had some chicago charm to it.
My partner and I got a few sides, a polish dog, and A Magnificent Mile Pizza deep dish. I will admit the price was a bit spendy but honesty well worth the cost. The owner must have easily put 40$ worth of delicious cheese on our pizza that I wasnt even mad.
Our pizza had the best looking cheese pulls I had ever seen and the pizza crust was so delicious that I even ate the ends!( I don't usually like the crust on most pizza) The real winner was the homemade sauce. It was super savory with all the spices I could want in a pizza sauce like it should be.
I only had a bite of my partners polish dog but it was just a solid polish dog. It was slightly smoky than most.
At the end of the day, I got to try something I've never had before and im glad I got to experience it here with my partner. Thanks to the owners for making my first chicago pizza a truly wonderful experience. Will definitely be...
Read moreWe just left Chicago’s Pizza Kitchen in University Place, and let me tell you, it was an experience that left a lasting impression! As a first-timer trying Chicago-style deep dish pizza, We were genuinely excited, and this cozy, locally owned gem did not disappoint.
From the moment we walked in, the friendly atmosphere welcomed us like family. The place was spotless and had a charming, small-town feel that made it feel like home.
Now, let’s talk about the pizza. We ordered the “Six Corners” Chicago-style deep dish, and it was cooked to absolute perfection. The crust was firm yet flaky, providing a delightful base that was anything but soggy. Each slice was loaded with hot, gooey cheese that created an irresistible cheese pull—just the way a deep dish should be! The sauce was a highlight as well; it wasn’t overly acidic, allowing the flavors of the fresh ingredients to shine through without overwhelming the palate. Every bite was a harmonious blend of flavors that left us wanting more.
As we savored our meal, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to support a local business that truly cares about its customers and the quality of its food. Before we left, my fiancé had the pleasure of shaking the owner’s hand, which made the experience feel even more personal and special.
In short, Chicago’s Pizza Kitchen exceeded all expectations. We left with full bellies and smiles on our faces, already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for an authentic Chicago-style deep dish pizza experience, this is the place to go. Trust me, you...
