I WILL NEVER GIVE MY BUSINESS TO PADUA EVER AGAIN! I live in a historic home walking distance from Padua and have been a customer since I moved here in 2019. The food is convenient because of walking distance but not above average in any way. Either way, I like to support small businesses and love being part of the downtown Upland area. I went in today with my husband and two young children. I placed an order for 3 sandwiches and some deli stuff. I ordered a sandwich that I have ordered since March 2019 that has added goat cheese. When I gave the woman (THE OWNER) my order she paused and loudly and rudely said, "goat cheese!?" as she huffed. I said yes, I always order this sandwich and she asked if it was a lot added. I said no just a layer to which she paused, smirked and shook her head. I asked if there was a problem and she said I have to charge you extra, I said ok and she said she would ask her girls how they charge me. I walked away feeling judged and upset about the exchange, even my 12 year old commented on the rudeness. While we were browsing and waiting for our order my husband noticed THE OWNER staring and pointing at me with 2 of her employees. My husband walked over and politely and quietly asked if there was a problem. The owner yelled back that yes there was a problem and none of her girls ever made my sandwich that way and she has to weigh the goat cheese. I heard this from across the store and walked up to the counter, put my ticket down and said I would like to cancel my order since it was such a problem. A young girl (who has made my problem sandwich several times before) asked if I was sure to which I responded, yes and that I could not believe how rude that woman is to customers! I have spent $$$$ on food, cards, or decor here since 2019. It is absolutely despicable the way my family were treated today. There is no response this business will surely try to give to excuse being yelled at for an order request. If it was an issue THE OWNER should have declined to make the substitute in a civilized way. I will pass on this knowledge to friends and family dining in the area....
Read moreThis place came highly recommended by a friend of mine that took me to lunch here today 3/22/19 for a meatball sandwich. He said that he had brought others here and everyone seem to enjoy the food. When I first entered the building there we heaven smells of Italian sauces and breads coming from the kitchen, I was ready to eat. We ordered our sandwich and roamed the building looking at all of the pre made foods and canned goods they had to offer while we waited patiently for our food. When the sandwich arrived and I took my first bite I thought “How good flavor, BUT this roll is as hard as a rock”. I attempted a couple of more bites but the bread was burned (pictures not allowed here, my pictures are posted on Trip Adviser). I went to the counter and showed the young lady making sandwiches my over toasted bread, she said she would take care of it and I went back over and sat with my friend while I waited for my new 1/2 meatball sub. A few minutes later an older lady comes out of the back with a sandwich that is wrapped up and hands it to me and says “ here’s your sandwich back”. She went on to explain that they toast the bread so it’s not soggy, I told her it was burnt and she said “well next time tell us not to toast my sandwich “! Read moreI would like answers. It really bums me out that the only reason I can’t give you 5 stars is customer service. Your sandwiches are the best I’ve found but the women that work here are so off putting!! I have gone through & read MANY similar reviews & I want to know why it hasn’t changed!? You always respond saying, next time we hope to give you a better experience, but I don’t see you guys actually putting that into action! Everyone is so happy with your food, why can’t you be happy with you customers? Many times I get looked at like im not wanted, or like I am crazy for asking a simple question!! I just don’t understand how after so many people have reviewed your business saying the same things about the customer service & how they were treated so poorly, why haven’t you tried to change that problem? I really would like to know. Your food is so amazing, the customer service should match & it bums me out that I can’t gjve you the 5 stars that the food deserves. And please don’t reply with your generic answer that you’ve given everyone else, because I’m sorry, but it’s all bologna!! I really hope one day you guys realize that this community loves your food & that all those bad reviews about he customer service could be an easy fix if you guys just changed for attitudes for the better!
