I can only speak to the burritos and street tacos, since that's all that my family ever orders, although the menu is more extensive in the ways one would expect, plus some burger-and-fries options. What we go for is excellent and earns the five stars for food quality within type. I would give it less than five stars to reflect the ambience--it's OK as a taco stand on a major artery, but it is not a mini-diner with comfy indoor seating.
The soft street tacos are on the small side, but the soft corn tortillas are tasty in themselves, and they are all well filled with meat (or fish) and salsa, not mainly lettuce and cheese, and the meats are well cut, with virtually no gristle or bone pieces. Every filling we have tried, whether chorizo, pastor, pollo, camaron, or pescado (and there are numerous others) is distinctive and very, very good.
The burritos are quite large, the flour tortillas are grilled perfectly, not too thick or thin, so they are slightly chewy and don't sog quickly or burst easily, and the fill is heavy on the main ingredient, which per the flavor report above (add asada and abobo to that list, but subtract the seafood options because the burrito eater--that's me--never orders it with seafood) is always moist but not runny, and love it whether wet, with green or red sauce and some shred and sour cream, for an extra buck or so.
I have eaten on-site once or twice, but mainly takeout. They have six or seven round metal table/bench units, all outdoors, each kept clean and big enough to seat a medium-size family or car pool. Every table has an umbrella, plus there are large shade trees nearby to help keep it cool daytimes; but overall it's not the greatest setting, between two gas stations and pretty close to the road, which is a very busy stretch of Euclid, one of Upland's main drags (albeit a nicely landscaped divided boulevard.) Parking is ample, with a one-way drive-around (NOT drive-through. The exit driveway is shared with the Arco station, stay alert!). It is just a long block or so from the I-10 ramps.
The window service has always been patient, friendly, and reasonably quick. The prices are in line for both combos and a la cart. That is, prices per item (not necessarily per calorie or ounce) are higher than the national chain-Mex's like Taco Bell or Del, but market-par with local taquerias like Alberto's, Taco Man, or (miss...
Read moreI love their cocido, & El Bondigas, and potatoes tacos with a Large Horchata are my favorite! My boyfriend always orders the street tacos. We both always have the same choice of order.
The only thing I have to complain about is the prices. It can get pricey after ordering for more than 1 person. And I was amazed to see everything was the exact same price. And they lead you to believe they are offering you a special of the day, which is always potatoes tacos! 🌮 The special never changes. And their special is the most expensive thing on the menu! I guess thats what makes it special. Lol
I also WAS recently going there VERY often. More often then I should lol. So I spend a lot of money there, since I don't have access to a kitchen to cook right now. Anyways, my order of cocido got spilt as we were getting out of our truck by some bone head who was trying to help and failed miserably. I had just spent a lot of money buying everyone at my house food and of course I was the one whose order got dropped. It was late so I tried to rush back before they closed. I know they recognized my truck and me pulling back up. My truck stands out alot! And you definitely can't forget about the short girl with curly hair driving it. And they see me through out the week when I show up to order my meals. So the cashier for sure recognized me when I pulled up. I'm assuming it was the owner or manager who was there with her closing. As soon as they seen me pulling up, they quickly shut the window closed before I could walk up. I thought it was rude. Especially after I spent so much money there. I ended up skipping dinner that night and I honestly haven't been going there very much ever since. I finally realized they were to expensive.
But overall, DEFINITELY GOOD enough to visit every...
Read moreI was looking for something new and against all better judgment decided to come to this spot. It’s next to an Arco gas station, they have outside seating only, and their menu has a variety of Mexican dishes.
The prices were a bit over the top for such a place but I overlooked it. I ordered the plate of 4 potato tacos (no rice or beans, just the tacos) for $14 and the Michoacán enchiladas for $15 (also no rice or beans just the enchiladas). I ordered a small side of Mexican rice for $3.50 and it was enough for two people.
First thing I tried was the Mexican rice and it was dry af and a tad bit crunchy, not a lot just slightly. The flavor was ok not great. It didn’t even have onion in it!! How can you make Mexican rice without onion!?
The potato tacos were bland and empty. They hardly had enough potato inside and they were not crunchy at all. In fact, they were so soft I couldn’t tell them apart from the enchiladas. They topped it with a bunch of red onion, full big slices of tomatoes, lettuce, cheese and some sort of red sauce that was not even close to good. The onion was cut into long slices and it was just overkill.
The enchiladas were filled with cheese only. They were made Michoacán style, which is fried and kinda toasted which is good, but they topped it with big chunks of red onion, lettuce, full slices of tomato, cheese, and red sauce. I had to move all that aside & ate mostly just the enchilada but it wasn’t good without some toppings.
Overall, I wish I would have went elsewhere! Definitely not worth $40! Señor Baja has way better potato tacos for the same price. I wouldn’t recommend this place, I would never go back. How they remain in business is a mystery...
