I came here for two things: their French Onion Soup and their Cheesesteak. Both were incredible. One of the best French Onion Soups I've ever had (and I've had a lot!). The cheese was delicious and "baked" on to the bowl. The soup itself was hot and flavorful! The Cheesesteak was filling and also delicious. I got it with provolone and some fried onions. Man, I was stuffed but it was a great lunch! Sat at the bar, which I enjoyed as well. Wish I lived closer to this place. (It's 90 minutes from me!) They do offer valet parking in the first lot but I went the second lot on the other side of the building and parked myself.

This is a 3.5 - 4 star restaurant that's begging to be 5 star. Creative appetizers, salads and entree's. Freshly made, vegetarian options, locally sourced. A very creative menu. Staff are friendly, everything clean and well maintained. My one knock is some of the entrees (eggplant roulade, seafood stew) just need something in the seasoning to zip it up. It's not bland by any means. The food is good but it falls short of great and that menu deserves to be great. But maybe it's me, or an off night. Don't be afraid to go, you'll have a fun time and the menu is truly unique. It deserves you to form your own opinion.

What a fantastic meal over Memorial Day Weekend! We had a cocktail and draft beer with their signature spicy hummus and pita. Then the Bowman salad. Cornbread coated halibut with collard greens and cheese grits. Salmon with beans and carrots. Everything was prepared and plated perfectly. So fresh and creative. We had to go for the locally made ice cream for dessert. Thre cappuccino crunch ice cream had delicious coffee beans mixed in. So good! The ambiance takes you back in time to a real tavern experience. Lucas, our server, was so attentive! Highly, highly recommend!!! Make reservation.

I am only giving Bowman’s Tavern two stars because I am honestly outraged that they got rid of their pulled pork sandwich (must have been when they revamped/renovated… Or whatever they did when they were closed recently). It was IMO the hands down best pulled pork sandwich in a 30-mile radius…like, what the heck Bowman’s?? Ironically it seems as though other unworthy items from the old menu survived…even the freaking ricotta appetizer made it, and they still have three or four different types of burgers, but no more pulled pork...that would be ridiculous! I’m of course being facetious. Yes, I realize it’s just a sandwich, but it was something I very much used to look forward to getting. It’s unfortunately the reason why we will no longer be dining there. Maybe I will get over it six months from now and go back, but for now I’m very annoyed; now I have to go to Sharky’s for my pulled pork fix instead. That gripe aside, as far as helpful info about the place goes; in my experience their other menu items have been decent, but not amazing. Their staff however, is wonderful; every person I’ve dealt with has always helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I’ve always had good service. Bowman’s sometimes has annoying live music, but the atmosphere is typically tolerable, both bar area and dining room. It’s too bad we can no longer enjoy and support one of our few local restaurants, and we live less than a mile from the place! I just don’t know why they had to go and fix something that most definitely...

We drove down from NYC to see a show that afternoon and decided on Bowman's Tavern for dinner afterwards. I ordered the Bowman's Manhattan and it was excellent. My wife and I split the Bowman's Salad and it too was very good albeit a bit over dressed. LOVED the pickled rhubarb and Marcona almonds, which are my favorite! Unfortunately we had some issues with our entree's. My wife ordered the Spinach Ravioli. The description sounded fresh and light (spring onion, wild mushrooms, shaved asparagus, spring pea and mint puree, pecorino romano, fulper farms ricotta filling). No where did it mention anything about cream in the dish and unfortunately it arrived in a cream sauce which my wife really didn't want and made the dish much heavier than she was hoping for. My wife didn't want to say anything so she ate it...it was fine, but whoever wrote the menu really needs to add cream to the description. My ribs arrived nearly cold. I sent them back but refiring the rack didn't completely heat them through despite arriving on a hot plate...but they were warm enough to eat. Unfortunately because they were reheated, the BBQ sauce over half the ribs was now charred which was a shame because the three ribs I ate were moist and tender. The accompanying corn bread was a little on the dry side and the rotini pasta salad was fine. Service was excellent, very attentive and apologetic for the kitchen's missteps. We only wished the food last night was as good as...

This was our first time at Bowman’s Tavern since before the pandemic. Lucas was our server. There was a laminated card on the table to let customers know that the kitchen is doing the best they can and they’d appreciate no substitutions on orders. I was happy to see this because it helps us set our expectations. When I made the reservations, I requested an outdoor table in the shade for our party of 5. That’s just what we got. Everyone was happy with the food. I tried the ricotta gnudi with a side of crostini. It was delicious. Lucas was very friendly and attentive. They have Coke products. They also have valet parking. I’m really glad that the quality of the food and service are as good as they’ve always been. We’ll definitely be returning.

Update 3/6/26 We’ve been going to Bowman’s Tavern for many years because it’s halfway between where my parents live and where I live. I’ve never understood why they have valet parking. We’ve only been at lunchtime so maybe it’s more convenient for dinner time. I would prefer no valet parking. There’s a parking lot very close to the restaurant so it doesn’t seem necessary. Beth was our server. She was friendly and helpful. We had the Bowman’s Burger, cheese steak, and sliced roast beef sandwich. The sliced roast beef sandwich had the best bread. For dessert, we had the brownie as well as churros which were on the special menu for today. Everything...
