I have been going here frequently for years. The food is great - inventive with remarkably consistent quality. They have never had an “off” night in all the time I have been going to the Trapp. The menu changes pretty regularly. I have not had a better burger anywhere. The “house made” condiments (ketchup, several mustards, jams, conserves etc.) help make this place unique. They change up the tap selections regularly, always having a variety of interesting selections. The vibe and the service are top shelf. They get to know the beer styles you like and make good suggestions. They hold tap takeovers and other special events, like beer-food pairing dinners. One of my favorite aspects is that they support live music. I also have first-hand experience with private events. The owner, Jen, is a treat to work with and is very responsive. Regarding the “pricey” comments others have made, I believe it’s really just a matter of getting what you pay for - at least in the food department. They use a lot of ingredients to make most of their dishes, and many of them add significantly to their cost. Drinks are pricey at most places, and I think Trapp’s prices are similar to those at other nice restaurants. If you come in during Happy Hour (weekdays 4-6, I believe, and Saturday at brunch time), the drink prices will...
Read moreWe had a large group go in and it wasn’t the best experience. We asked for separate checks early (only 4 drinks on the table and not all the party had even arrived) and was told by the server it was too late and she couldnt do it because they only do checks on paper. But she would take care of us at the end. We ordered some appetizers and some showed up....others got to the point where we started to think they were never made. The entrees showed up and they were alright, not very memorable. Then the check showed up and we all had to try and figure everything out. Server did nothing to take care of the situation as she said she would but glared at us when we made comments on this and made passive aggressive comments when another guest said he didn’t go out to dinner to do math. She seriously ruined the experience. Thank god she was only the server and not the chef. God knows she’d have...
Read moreWe were very disappointed with our dining experience. The interior is rough-looking and not elegant at all. Everything has to be ordered a la carte, and not even bread came to the table with the entrée. The salad was enough to share, but it seemed to be made of iceberg lettuce. When the entrees came, our eyes probably showed our disappointment in the size of the meal. I had fried grouper, and my husband had scallops. There were only three scallops on the plate. There were 2 tablespoons of mixed vegetables and potatoes on the plate. The grouper was adequate, but there were perhaps three inch-and-a half pieces of sweet potato and two or three inch-and-a half French fries on the grouper plate. We went home and made a big dessert because we were...
