Do not be fooled by the negative folks giving reviews⦠this diner was a breath of fresh air! I went tonight (6:30pm) to meet up with family, this was a central meeting point for us. They are from PA and I live at the shore (LBI). Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by a man and woman at the counter. I felt like a family member when I walked in, they were genuinely kind and welcoming. The rest of my party had yet to arrive, and yet I was seated without a second thought. Tables were moved to accommodate me and a coffee was served within a minute. Two more servers stopped by to see if I needed anything. When my party arrived, we actually didnāt need the extra table. No worries, said the staff. I watched as the host walked around and greeted diners with handshakes and hugs. It was quite busy and apparent that there were regulars in there. Everyone was happy and smiling. Now, living at a shore town, what I experienced so far at this diner, was rare. Most restaurants and eateries in my hometown will not seat you until your party arrives. The staff was so very friendly and helpful and WELCOMING. My family arrived and we chatted and decided to order the souvlaki. They ordered chicken, I ordered pork. My sister also ordered the French Onion soup w/no bread. It was good, not extraordinary, but definitely good. Also to mention, our waiter, Zachary, took our order with a smile and was more than happy to accommodate our special requests. We were offered refills of our drinks numerous times. Also to note- the coffee was delicious and fresh. Our dinners arrived and they included fresh veggies. Iāve had souvlaki in the Greek Mecca called Tarpon Springs, and this looked a little different. At first, I thought uh oh⦠but wow, it was very fresh and tasty without the heavy seasonings I had previously experienced. Iām not a fan of salt and this was perfect in that area. I could taste the food, not just heavily seasoned food. It was a very generous portion, which I couldnāt finish. It will definitely make a great lunch tomorrow. The tzatziki was very good and we ordered extra with our meals. We were quite stuffed but the desserts looked too tasty to pass up! We decided to share the Death By Chocolate and it did not disappoint! It was amazing! We sat around and chatted a bit and remarked what a great spot this was. Upon leaving, the owners thanked us for coming in tonight and I mentioned that I would be writing a glowing review. Their smiles showed their appreciation and they thanked me. I will absolutely return to this diner in the future and I definitely recommend a stop at this diner.
Couple of points I wanted to mention: Menu- 2 sides. Great selection, not overbearing. Iām not a fan of huge menus, less turnover equals less freshness. This was perfect. Cleanliness- very clean Well lit, without overpowering bulbs. Everyone was treated well, from the kids to the seniors. Our jaws dropped when we saw the size of the nachos served to another table, it was enormous. Nice little counter area for folks dining alone. The chairs looked comfy. The sliders looked delicious.
Iād definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to this diner three times and I can say 2/3 left a bad impression. I have clients that recommend to eat at this local diner, due to having a good food selection compared to the other local diner nearby. The first time I went the staff were friendly and made sure to check in at our table often. The dish that I ordered was actually pretty good too. It was until checkout that my experienced turned sour. During checkout the lady at the register was not as friendly. I asked for a receipt and she made it seemed as if it was a inconvenience just by me simply asking for a receipt. I instantly picked up the negative energy, but ignored it and figured she was having a bad day. The second time that Iāve visited the diner it was a nice experience overall, because during this visit because there was a different person at the register that day and he was very welcoming. He also did not mind that I asked for a receipt once the bill was paid. The following week I went to the diner again, but with another client. Although I was not sure if I wanted to go to the diner again I still agreed, because in spite of the lady I actually enjoyed the staff and the food. During this visit she again she was not welcoming and appeared to have a unspoken attitude towards me. This time during check out she made me and my client wait until she was done talking with another staff before allowing us to pay for the bill. Again as I asked for a receipt she was very rude and had a attitude. I idk if itās the population of clients that I work with, if itās because of my race (due to majority of the area the diner is located and the customers being of a particular race) or if itās just simply because sheās generally not a nice person, but she was very rude for each of my encounters. Simply due to her negative interaction with me during two encounters I would not recommend anyone that I know to eat at this diner. Itās a shame too, because the other staff are welcoming and the food is pretty decent. But her attitude is very unacceptable and uncalled for especially when I was nothing but polite and respectful. I refuse to spend another dime at this diner again. I rate this diner 2 stars due to my two...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience on our first time at 40 Point Diner, two weeks ago, our late lunch was made even more āappetizingā by our pretty waitress, Erin! Delighted with our food (Crab cake sliders with french fries and tortellini soup) and service, my boyfriend and I decided to visit the diner again, so very excited we stopped by today. We were sad we did not see our waitress, we were told she wasnāt there, however we were greeted pleasantly and were taken care by Brenda who did a great job with service. We ordered 2 cups of soups, open faced pastrami with swiss and french fries, philly cheesesteak sliders with fries. We ordered 2 cups of coffee and a slice of lemon cream cake. Sadly the cake was not only old and stale but moldy as well. Brenda was informed and she promptly apologized and made sure that the cake was taken off the bill. What is very bizarre to me is that the owner was there and was made aware of the matter. On our first visit my boyfriend and I introduced ourselves to him and complimented him on his restaurant and service, however today he was such a coward that not only he decided not to stay at the register to receive payment for the bill and let one of his employees do so, but he decided that he was perhaps too busy scattering away to come to our table and apologize for old food being served. A simple apology would...
