This is a delightful place to have a good cup of whatever kind of coffee drink you like. The food options are limited to cold things like salads, sandwhiches and even ice cream by the pint. Daily they get fresh baked goods delivered and they are tasty. My guess is that they either didnt want to hassle with a food preparation permit or they were not allowed one due to the location. Everything you can eat is made off site and there is not even a warm it up option here. This is the reason for the 4 out of 5 stars in the food category. The inside is beautiful the woodwork and the history stand out as soon as you walk through the door. On your way in you'll notice there is seating on the very nice large porch just outside the front door. There are three or four different rooms that you can choose to enjoy your beverage and your snack inside the building or you can go out on the porch or even in the backyard and sit in a relaxed and beautiful place. Mare Island is very rich in history and there are plenty of cool places to see right within walking distance from the beautiful coffee house. It's just a short walk from the ferry terminal on mare Island which is cool if you came from San Francisco or any other waterport in the Bay area. The staff are very friendly helpful and always greet you with a smile and a warm good morning. This coffee house is situated inside of an old Victorian home I'd guess it's at least 200 years old. It's a very beautiful and well maintained building. You're not allowed to go upstairs but you are allowed to roam anywhere on the downstairs level. There is also comfortable restrooms. There's just a nice easy chill vibe when you're here that makes you want to stay for a while and either people watch or order some coffee and a pastry or even maybe come for lunch and have a sandwich or a salad and top it off with a pint of delicious ice cream. It's good to have businesses like this on Mare Island and I encourage you to support them. I would also encourage you to take a walk and explore the areas around the quarter's coffee house. Especially down by the water and if you feel up to it walk to the coal sheds have a pint of amazing beer at Mare Island Brewing Company which is also right on the water. If wine is your thing there's an amazing place right next door where they serve up some delicious wines in a friendly and non-intimidating atmosphere. They also have events where they have food and wine and it's a really really beautiful place. I hope you have a great time if you visit and that you get to experience the history and the beauty and the great food...

Stop by this gorgeous coffee house. Formerly an officers' mansion. Just beautiful inside. Large porch in the front with plenty of comfortable patio furniture to sit and have your drink with a loved one or friends. Inside, there is limited seating, with most tables by a window. There is a smaller room with a chess set and a sofa, for a more intimate, homey feel, and a larger room with a longer table for a large group, like for a study group, since there's a university nearby. We went on a Friday midmorning and there were quite a few people, since it's Labor Day weekend. So, I imagine that it will be a crowded spot during the actual weekend (Sat-Sun). I believe they will be closed for the holiday on Monday. It's a very small establishment - one guy to take orders and one lady making the drinks behind a tiny counter. They had a small case of pastries, which, by the time we got there, was almost empty with a lot of butter croissants. So, if you get there with a crowd, expect to wait a while for your drink. We got a decaf cafe latte to go and it was good. When we find ourselves up and early in the morning, we will definitely be back to sit and...

I absolutely love the ambiance here! Friendly service. Wonderful space. 3 separate rooms to chill in. The larger room has soft music playing, the other 2 rooms are a bit more relaxing. The porch area is open, and the backyard space is soon to come. 8/25/2023 - I visited today for the 3rd time. Very long wait to get coffee. I would suggest investing in some higher end equipment as the current setup only allows them to make 1 coffee at a time. My coffee was not very hot at all. This is the 2nd time this has happened. I still love the place, and I think they will do well once they get all the bugs worked out. 10/3/2024 - This will be the last time I visit this place. Once again, the coffee was not hot, and even though I added an extra shot, it was very flavorless. It must be due to the low quality equipment they are using. It's such a shame as it really is a really cool location. I'm sorry, but I have to judge a coffee shop by the coffee first and foremost, and even Starbucks could do a better job...

Gorgeous hidden gem of a coffee shop on Mare Island. Generous parking across the street, multiple rooms to sit in, wifi and a backyard available during good weather- honestly what's not to love. Had the gingerbread latte, Cali fog, and chai latte and all were delicious and well done. Coffee was not burnt, and to top it off the baked goods (brought in by a local shop) were delicious and half off when we purchased. Having experience cafe culture around the world, I love when a coffee spot in the US absolutely nails it. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming, coffee is made with love at a reasonable pace, and one feels like they can enjoy their beverage at their leisure. Would easily recommend this place for a relaxing beverage break.
