We have been back here several times since this last review. I just called them today 05/15/23, just to make sure they're open for business still, because of a post I read on Facebook. The Gentleman who answered the phone said someone is looking to buy the restaurant, but the deal hasn't gone through yet. I am going to be SO sad if Dixies closes. I love this family & I love their food! My friend Ed & I stop here to eat when we go to Florence. It is one of my most favorite places & has been for years!
Today is probably the 6th time we have been back here, since my last review. It's an oft stopped at place for us, whenever we are on our way towards the coast. I don't know what we'll do if he ever retires or sells the place. I had the small breakfast today, 2 eggs, hashbrowns & sourdough toast. My dining partner had the Denver Omelette meal again. We adore this place.
Best Coconut French Toast, you can find! Today though, I opted for the corn beef, hash & eggs. My dining partner had the denver omelette & he was super impressed. Today was his first time here. I have been going here for years. It's my hidden secret spot. I love the owners, so much. The food is super affordable, the quantity is hefty & they make a mean, hand dipped,...
Read moreThe biscuits and gravy were tasteless. My dad eats anything and rarely complains, but he said he almost didn't eat his cheese omelette because it was so bad. Their weak coffee was served in a 100 year old mug that was heavily brown stained inside so it appeared dirty. The service itself was fine, but the inside of the restaurant smells like an old ashtray and hasn't been updated in 30-40 years. Not in a charming way, in a very rundown way. The worst part of all was the ladies room. Probably the nastiest I've ever seen. Rust, mold, thick layers of dirt and dust, cobwebs. Bad smell. When I went to wash my hands afterward, the tiny trickle of water drizzling out of the faucet just wasn't getting the job done. I had to warn my mom to NOT use the restroom. Someone please contact the Health Dept....
Read moreIs this a joke? My family and would stop at Dixie’s on the way to the coast to have breakfast. Didn’t know it changed ownership years ago. It used to have a great atmosphere service and food. Used to. Heavy on the IDRD TO. Now every thing is just the opposite. Especially the food. Don’t ever get the scrambled egg. We’re pretty sure they use water and lots of others to mix with them. Food portions, hahaha. We’re good for our z6 year old but only an appetizer for anyone over 9. Someone inder 9 will eat anything. Not ours! A lot of the food was so bad even she wouldn’t eat it. Soft drinks. I watched as they got them from a 2 liter bottle. It is extremely doubtful if we will ever stop there again. Like I said: This place...
