La Parrilla served me the best taco I had during a 3-day weekend taco run in Ventura County last year. The restaurant's extensive menu of Yucatán-inspired seafood dishes, vaporcitos, panuchos, and molcajetes ought to be carefully explored by locals. I consider large menus to carry inherent risk, as there are more opportunities for one to order the wrong thing, but this possibility seems unlikely at La Parrilla given the quality of what they have served me.

La Parrilla's "Cochinita Pibil Taco" ($4.00) is the kind of taco that lets us forget the human struggle for a few minutes, and provides ample evidence that La Parrilla is the real deal. The restaurant's silky cochinita pibil guisado practically dissolves on your tongue, as tender chunks of pork barely clutch on to buttery bits of fat in a recaudo rojo that perfectly balances a salvo of warm chilis with a delightfully sour tickle of citrus. The taco's white corn tortilla (which can be upgraded to a handmade tortilla at additional cost) is wrapped around its contents, steamed from the decadent stew within, and then sprinkled with pickled onions and crumbled queso, inviting a spoon-and-knife approach. Carefully pour on some of La Parrilla's exquisite gut-melting pinkish salsa and prepare yourself for NSFW repercussions.

You may also enjoy La Parrilla's take on the "Baja-Style Fish Taco" ($4.95), as here the generously-sized flaky white fish filet is covered in an ultra-crunchy golden fried batter, and then dressed with pico de gallo, sliced avocado, bitter strips of red & white cabbage, and a punchy chile cream sauce. A lightly grilled tortilla is just sturdy enough to hold the taco's bulging contents in place for...

Oh boy, don't get me started on this place. We were seated right away were brought chips and salsa right away and drinks were brought out fast. So the visit started really promising. The waiter was friendly throughout the whole visit and always had a smile so that was a plus. When we got our drinks, the pitcher of beer had a hair in it. we told the waiter and he graciously brought us a new one. A few minutes later he comes and asks what types of tacos I wanted again. Which is fine I rather have him double check than to bring out the wrong food. 2 people in my party ordered the menudo, one asked before placing the order if it had hominy, to which she was told yes and asked if it was possible to get it without and he said yes that they can keep it out. Their food was brought out and both plates had equal amount of hominy in it. It was brought to the waiters attention, he said that it was the best they could do and she decided to just keep her food. It's time to pay for our meal, a $67 bill was paid $30 in cash and the rest on a card. The card was charged $47. He was informed of the mistake and voided the transaction and was charged the right amount twice. He didn't let us know if this mistake, we only found out about the mistake because it was on the bank account. The food was not seasoned, cold and just not good.i really cannot...

Horrible/terrible service by our waitress.

Went for dinner on Sunday 24 April 2022. We were a party of three. The place was not busy. We have been there numerous of times and this time we received extremely poor service by the assigned waitress. We placed our order within ten minutes. We waited a long time for chips and salsa until we flagged down one of the other servers. When the food came there still was no silverware . We waited, however, the waitress did not bring it. We attempted to get her attention several times as she passed by the table but she ignored us. Again we flagged down a different server for silverware. Yes our food was getting cold. Our waitress did have time to attend others tables and have conversations with those customers. All in all her demeanor was lacking of what is expected and anticipated from a person in the restaurant environment. Her attitude was extremely unfriendly. When she brought the check was the only time she smiled and was efficient and rapid in collecting payment. The other two servers which we had to flag down were very professional with all customers. Some people require training in order to be successful in the food industry. This is the responsibility of the owner and management.

The other two servers were very attentive ...

The La Parilla Yucatán Mexican Food restaurant is a hidden Mexican food gem located in Ventura by the college. We went for a quick breakfast and we were so happy we went there. The food is very tasty with an excellent salsa and fresh crunchy chips. The food was excellent and reasonably price. Our server did an exceptional job, he was extremely attentive and friendly. The menu had many interesting traditional Mexican dishes and we definitely be back to explore these. La Parilla is an excellent Mexican food option in Ventura! We will be back for happy hour very soon!

We ordered a dozen of each flavor of Tamales for Christmas Eve dinner and all 3 flavors were delicious, The ratio of masa to meat was perfect. The filings were hardy and had a great flavor. I appreciated the tamale wrappers used because they were labeled so our guests did not have to touch each one to figure out the flavor. The staff were so kind and efficient also. I look forward to trying more menu items in the future,
