Been going here for years since its the only Chinese food in town. Lets start with the food just isn't good. It is mediocre and oversweet at best and some dishes are just plain bad. Now onto my bigger beef, the owner lies constantly. Every order they say will take 30 min, no matter how busy. Most nights its at least 50 min wait. Menu claims "we can alter the amount of spice according to your taste". This isn't true, they don't have the proper spices and beyond the oversweet sauces you will only find some red pepper flakes. There are also some price errors on the menu and surprise, they aren't in the customers favor! I am a patient person but after YEARS of constant errors and excuses without a single apology or offer of refund/replacement I am done. Will never be back. You will have a better experience getting your meal from the frozen section at Shaw's.
*EDIT: Proof that the owner is shallow and doesn't care is their lack of response to any of these reviews, positive...
Read moreI ordered: Gen Tao’s Crispy noodle beef Egg roll Dumping boiled.
The GT was large chunks larger than golfballs. Sadly it was mostly batter. The chicken wasn’t the size of a Lima bean. The batter was some disgusting pancake like batter. This dish was just awful. Certainly not Gen Tao’s whatever it was.
The egg rolls were actually a spring roll I think, the wrapper was doughy and gummy, just a wreck of a dish.
The dumplings, wow, the wrapper was so thick and pasty. It was just awful. This is a simple dough and and easy dish, but man yall did it wrong.
The Crispy noodle and beef was not bad. They tried to velvet the beef but have no real idea how so it was more slimy than velvet.
The steamed rice was good! They did that well.
I wasn’t expecting much for small town VT, and boy was I let down. Wasted $46. The GT is just damn criminal. House Special indeed it’s a money...
Read moreThe owner and operator is one of the nicest people you'll meet in town. Every time I eat there we have plenty of leftovers. Great portions, and good food too. My one complaint is that they have poor communications among staff due to inherent language barriers. They told me my next entree would be free since they forgot to put it in my take out bag, then lost the note holding my credit after just a few months (I can't afford to eat out as often as I'd like). They ended up not honoring the credit, which was ok, but they also messed up the next order with wrong content in the bag. I will be checking my order before I leave the restaurant each time I order now. If I had the funds, I would order from Shuen Lee's place once a...
