So my wife and I went here for dinner on a Saturday afternoon, and first off, we had a hard time finding the place. No signage at all. When we got inside, we noticed a foul smell to the place. It was not very pleasant. But we tried to ignore it and ordered our food. The wait staff were pretty nice and the chips and salsa was good. I ordered the steak fajitas and wife ordered the carnitas taquitos, which were supposed to be crunchy but were soggy instead, kind Of like the consistency of enchiladas. My steak fajitas were just ok. The meat wasn’t really seasoned at all, but I find this to be pretty much the same at all Mexican restaurants. I don’t know why they don’t season up the meats better. Anyway, I feel like the decor was kind of confusing. It didn’t really look like a Mexican restaurant to me. It still had a lot of the branded bar stools from the previous business and it just felt confusing in there. Like maybe they’re in transition to getting everything switched up to Mexican decor? Not sure. But we probably won’t end up going back. My wife and I are both Hispanics and we know really good, authentic style Mexican food and it’s just not there for us. Also, they had paper menus and to me, that kind of feels a little on the “cheap” side, as there was food residue on my paper menu. That’s kind of gross. I hope they get that...
Read moreI have lived in vermilion since November of 2021. My significant other is actually from Vermilion and we are always trying new restaurants within the city. Recently, I decided to order carry out from Te’Kila which is about a 20 second drive from our house. I always assumed it was just a dive bar that serves dive bar food. This could not possibly be further from the truth. Not only is the parking lot full on a regular basis, but the atmosphere itself is absolutely adorable & extremely welcoming. The hardworking servers/bartenders greet you immediately. But aside from the geographic reasons, the decor, and friendly staff… the food is to die for. The menu is huge , and if you’re like me who has a hard time ordering, especially at Mexican restaurants, this place has a huge selection that is DELICIOUS. My first experience at Te’Kila, I accidentally ordered the Mexican corn dip instead of the Mexican street corn. I could not be more happy for this simple Mix up. The Mexican corn dip is probably my favorite thing on the menu, I order it every time I order out. I have yet to experience the pleasure of dining in and that is my only regret so far. Amazing food . Friendly staff. And certainly, not only my favorite restaurant in vermilion, but my favorite Mexican restaurant...
Read moreI’ve been searching for a good Mexican restaurant since I moved here from CA and stumbled in this place. It’s LEGIT. Best I’ve found and I’ve tried nearly every place out there.
Great service, very comfortable, big portions, and the food is delicious! The table sauce is very flavorful but not hot. Ask for their house made hot sauce if you like more heat. The elote is exactly right, especially when it’s made with must be local corn. My shrimp was just outstanding - simply prepared and grilled perfectly. Even the rice and beans are exceptional - they’re scratch making this stuff and it shows.
They also have Ohio-style dishes with plenty of queso. Not my thing but my friend really liked the chorizo and queso dish. Chorizo was good too - not greasy. Great soft tortillas.
There’s a patio in back where they allow dogs. There’s a bit of grass too where the kids can play. Great big bar in the center is cool.
This family is working hard to earn your business. I recommend you...
