Generations ago the local baker was an integral part of every community. Households would go get fresh bread for the day or the week, the local brewer would go to the baker for his yeast, the baker was one of the most important people in any community. Nowadays we buy mass produced bread with 25 ingredients that has almost no flavor, no crust, no crumb, was made entirely by a machine with no care at all, and it magically lasts 7-10 days.
This is not some modern bakery with large amounts of sugary pastry’s (although they did have a limited selection if that’s what you’re looking for). This is an old school French bakery that appears to be family owned where you walk in and get a delicious loaf to eat for the next 2-3 days.
Highly recommended stopping in and picking up a loaf or baguette. He did not have many loaves on display so I can only assume he makes small batches for the day. This business and the owners deserve a lot more customers but I think so many of us grew up on wonder bread and processed junk we don’t even know what real bread is or its significance in human history.
We’re better off getting our bread locally with no preservatives than buying the stuff at the supermarket that has 25 ingredients and no flavor or texture.
Go check this place out, don’t expect a modern bakery, expect a real loaf or baguette of French bread for a fair price and support a local business owned by real people in our community. You won’t be disappointed when you cut a slice and put some butter on it or dip it in olive oil (or just rip off a piece and eat it plain...

That day was very cold and was walking thru the memorial park across from the bakery when a woman came up to me handed me a hot chocolate and said " Have a good day!"...I was taken a little aback not expecting that random act of kindness..I have been homeless even though I have a job..that simple thing lol..made me cry..not very many examples of kindness out here.
It was delicious by the way..I suspect it is chocolate of a kind one can only get from a...
Read moreColette Berube is the owner and, in the very early 90s, I worked for her when she was located in Stafford Springs (then known as La Petite French Bakery). I was folding boxes and she taught me all about the art of cooking and caring about food. I was 'paid' with a bag of breads and pastries and, trust me, as a 10 year old, I was king lol. Her food was, and still is, delicious!! It was SO great to see her after all of these years and reminisce together over a pastry and coffee. She is such a sweet soul and full of life! I highly encourage you guys to go visit her and pick up some of her food! You won't...
