Had a craving for pizza after my son's soccer practice, so I called up New England Pizza and ordered a large cheese pizza. They told me it would be 25 minutes. I had my son and nephew with me, they decided to wait in the car while I grabbed the pizza. Figuring it would be quick, I headed into the restaurant and walked up to the counter (this was about 30 minutes after I ordered). The young lady at the counter informed me my order wasn't ready and it would be a few minutes. No problem, I could wait a few minutes.
I read some articles on my phone, texted my wife, and browsed the chip selection while I waited. A few customers came in and picked up their orders while I waited. 10 minutes went by, 20 minutes...
After checking on the boys again, I approached the counter and asked again about my order. The young lady and young gentleman looked at each confused, when sudden realization dawned on them. A misplaced ticket? A forgotten call-out? A friendly neighborhood web-slinger that had dabbled in pizza pilfery?? I have no clue, but neither did they. They knew there should be a pizza and there wasn't one.
AFTER 60 MINUTES.
So why the five stars??? Simple.
I've grabbed food orders from New England Pizza for over six years ranging from $20 to $200. Over dozens and dozens and dozens of orders, they never once missed or misunderstood an item, never once prepared anything wrong, and most importantly, never once failed to be anything less than absolutely delicious.
Pizza. Ninjas.
And what happens the VERY INSTANT these guys make even the slightest slip??? Without moments hesitation they're offering to make it for FREE. Everyone makes mistakes, even if superhumanly rarely. How a business handles it's mistakes tells you a lot more than how they handle their successes.
Rated Five stars because Six...
Read moreOur family has enjoyed New England pizza restaurant in Vernon for many generations. Our grandparents frequented the restaurant and then our parents and now we enjoy the food. Good old-fashioned food and fun at reasonable prices was the business practice when it was owned by the founders. We have found that since the children took over, it’s become a profit-based, not customer based business philosophy. For example, my daughters ordered a large pizza and a Caesar salad for pick up last night. When they got back home, they pulled out the salad, and there was no Caesar dressing on it. By then, the place had closed, so I called for them this morning. I told the young lady who answered the phone that we had paid $10 for the salad with no Caesar dressing. She replied that I should come back to the store with the lettuce and then they would give me the dressing. I told her that not only was the store closed, but that we had reluctantly eaten the plain lettuce. She then told me that if we stopped by, she would give us the dressing. I asked her, “What good would that would be?” She then put me on hold to ask her “manager.” She said, “Unfortunately, we cannot comp the salad because you didn’t bring it back.” I asked to speak to the manager, but conveniently, he had stepped out. I told her that I would like to stop by and pick up another salad, and she said, “Well , you can if you would like to purchase it.” My anger building even more, I told her that she had lost my business, my children’s business, my friends and neighbors, and now all of you who care to read this review. There are many pizza places from which to choose in this area, but out of tradition and loyalty, we kept returning to this establishment. NEVER,...
Read moreOne of the popular places in town for pizza and Italian fare. Expect to dial a few times to get through on a Friday or Saturday night for take out orders.
Their pizzas are pretty good and offer a wide selection.
Alas, that can't be said for their Crispy Chicken Salad. It's basically a ceasar salad mix with precooked crispy chicken cut up and placed on top. The chicken is not warm and the breading on it has gotten rather mushy. Perhaps if the chicken was "Fresh" it would be better.
Their Buffalo Chicken salad is a bit better as it comes with a head lettuce mixture with black olives, sliced plum tomatoes, sliced cucumber, and half a hard boiled egg. Again, the crispy chicken has been dipped in buffalo sauce and cooked previously. The crispiness is completely gone. It's a tad soggy. They have the right idea but execution needs improving.
The 'garlic' bread is awful. It's a 4" grinder roll brushed once with garlic butter. Don't waste your time eating it.
The chicken parmigiana grinder has always been good. No one has complained about that.
Service for sit down meals has always been slow for the multiple times I have been there. Seems take out is the...
