I am writing tonight to make you aware of the total disappointment in your new Vestavia location. First, we arrived at 4:07pm. With one another couple already present. We ordered our food, wings and a salad for my wife, little piggy pizza for me. She also ordered a flight of beer, but gave up after you were out of several (that were listed) that she wanted. She received her wings and salad in a timely manner, but halfway through her meal we had yet to see the waiter again. She had to personally get up from our dinner to go to the bar and order another beer, she also found the waiter sitting at the bar talking to the bartender. During our meal two more couples came in and both received their orders before I received my pizza. At 5pm we asked the waiter where our pizza was, that it had been 50 minutes since we placed our order. He stated he would check on it. Five minutes later the waiter returned with the pizza. This would have been the end of it and I wouldn't be so upset had this not been one of my wive's "Christmas presents" (I use the app instagift and buy her favorite foods and drinks as part of her Christmas) so the waiter tells me he "thinks" he knows how to use it and hits a button that completely erased a $25 bonus card I had received, it did not show up as being used and as for now I'm out $25. To pile on, the place offers valet parking, problem is, it seems to he one guy lining up cars two deep in the parking lot, therefore blocking me from getting out after leaving this disastrous adventure. Never again Slice, you have taken the best pizza, the best service and the best atmosphere in Birmingham (Lakeview) and turned it into a joke in Vestavia. Thanks for running one of my wive's Christmas presents and stealing $25 from me. The waiter's name was Geoff. Avoid him at all cost. It was like we were never there and in all of the confusion of the instagift fiasco we walked off and left half of our pizza in a box...
Read moreAfter our favorite wood fire pizza place closed, we have been on the search for a new pizza restaurant. Slice came with high recommendations.
We tired the Vestavia location for dinner tonight. They appeared very busy but we were greeted promptly and seated immediately.
Server was prompt to our table and brought our drink orders very quickly.
I ordered the perfect pepperoni and my wife got a house cheese pizza with olive oil and garlic sauce.
Pepperoni came out first. At first glance it was very greasy but had some nice charred crust. The bottom crust was not crisp, had no crunch and was drowning in corn meal. I was hoping the taste would make up where the crust lacked luster. However the sauce was bland, as was the pepperoni; both lacked on the flavor spectrum. Cheese combo was nice, but very thin.
My wife’s house cheese pizza had the same crust issues. But her olive oil and garlic base had a very nice flavor. Her cheese combo was good as well.
In comparison I can get a greasy pizza combo at Sam’s club for $2.74 and that include a drink. And their pepperoni and sauce has a much better flavor. Their crust is even crispier.
Had the price point not been so high, I would have rated 4 stars but I don’t expect to pay $45 for two greasy, soggy pizzas and two drinks. But the Diet Coke was a hit!
Disappointing to say the least, the search is still on for a new...
Read moreI hate giving poor reviews, but I'm also obligated to warn other people who are gluten free that they are about to be ripped off. This was my second time trying Slice. I went here yesterday with friends of mine, and I was the only gluten free person at the table, so I came into this knowing I would need to buy a whole pizza for just myself because there was no one to split one with. What I wasn't expecting was that the pizza itself would be $18, then I would be charged an additional $4 for it to be gluten free, then charged another $3 to add just pepperoni to it. That's right, I paid almost $30 for dinner last night, drinking only water, with just pepperoni as a topping. Are you kidding? I almost laughed when I got my bill. Of course, it's all worth it when the pizza tastes great, right? Well, unfortunately that didn't happen either. Think of the thinnest pizza you've ever eaten, make it just tough enough to be hard to chew, sprinkle enough cheese on it to be passable and add approximately 8 pieces of pepperoni (you know, the ones you just paid $3 for) on the whole thing, and you've got what I was given last night. Most expensive gluten free pizza I've ever eaten, and also one of the worst. If you're gluten free, do not bother to go here. It is not worth the small loan you have to take out to afford it. Absolutely pathetic, and I will...
