Grandy's — Restaurant in Victoria

Tried this place for the first time today. W have driven by it several times and decided to stop in to give it a try. Big mistake!! It looked like a diner on one half and a fast food restaurant on the other. Weird. Had to ask the manager to turn the TV channel because it was on CNN. When the food came out it looked fine. Nothing special. Tasted like it was all frozen then thrown in deep fryer. The worst part was the drinks. Yes the drinks. I was drinking dust Dr. pepper so I didn’t see the black specks that were in my daughter’s Sprite ( or whatever they call it now). I thought maybe it was already in the cup so I dumped it out then refilled it. More specks. I have worked in many restaurants so I new hire to take apart a soda machine. I took off the nozzle and wiped it off. There were a few specks. The manager saw what I was doing and said “we clean them every night but maybe not perfectly” in a sarcastic voice. Then I wiped out the machine itself where the nozzle attaches and that’s when I saw it. Black everywhere!!! Mold or something ask over the inside of the soda machine. I took off the nozzle for the Mountain Dew, same! The manager came over and was clearly embarrassed. He began talking then ask off and cleaning then but it was over for me. I dumped all of my families drinks and we left. I will never go back. We ask got home and we are all having stomach issues if you know what I mean. Gross!!! Stay away from this place. There are plenty of other places to eat in Victoria. The health department should shut this place down. No wonder it was one of the only restaurants with virtually no one there at lunch...

This was one of the worst meals in my entire life. We were passing through and decided to stop here for old times sake because I remember Grandys from back in the day. I am incredibly disappointed and the only reason I didn't ask for my money back was because my husband gets embarrassed very easily and he would rather just learn the lesson and never eat there again. He had the grilled chicken and I swear to God it was a frozen already cooked store packaged chicken breast that looked and tasted like it was microwaved. The sides are a joke and they were also frozen/pre packaged items that were ice cold when served to us. My fried chicken was ok but I ordered a 2 piece and I got one medium sized piece and a piece so small it could've been a buffalo wing. I wanted soooo badly to ask for a refund but I love my husband and I didn't want to embarrass him. Please avoid this place at all costs unless you want a terrible meal at...

Grandy's was the best back in the day. Went for nostalgia on Tues. 3 pc dinner. Godawful. 1130 am and EVERYTHING was cold. Chicken tasted a bit off and the texture was strange. The okra tasted like old grease and I could feel the grease coating it. Taters were mediocre but the gravy. That gravy. It was watery but still tasted burnt. Like it was on the warmer till it got too thick and then they kept thinning it with water rather than make a fresh batch. Did I mention that just before the lunch rush everything was cold? I got it to go and didn't feel like turning around and arguing. It's Mon now and I'm still not a100%. Drove from Houston for that nonsense.
