It was a unique experience. I went with a friend and it started pouring while we were en route to our dinner. There is a good sized parking lot so you don't have to worry about finding space! They have a small section of the house that appears to be an expansion and is leaky so they blocked off seating in that small area. It has a lovely atmosphere inside otherwise. The wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a trainee server and he was very pleasant and attentive. Dumplings were ordered first as appetizers. It was a nice portion and a tasty start to the meal. My dinner partner ordered Boba tea (which she claims was great).
The menu had some of the main items you'd expect from a Thai menu. I was pleasantly surprised that they had duck as a meat option so I ordered a super spicy green curry with duck and it was delicious. It was, however, plated in a manner that made it slightly awkward to eat, and I would have appreciated about 15-20% more rice served with the meal since I'm being honest. Now that I reflect, it was probably the least amount of rice I've ever seen served with an Asian entree anywhere. That's not to say the entree wasn't filling, it just felt a bit imbalanced. Maybe that has to do with the smaller cups they use to serve it in 🤔. Well, it was tasty, so I'm not really complaining. I took half home with me. I ordered dessert because sticky mango rice was on the menu and I haven't had that in years. It was great! I think they sliced up an entire mango over the rice (there was a LOT of mango. I couldn't finish it all!).
Anyway, prices seemed reasonable and they have plenty of options to choose from without being overwhelming. They definitely can turn up the spice as well. Truthfully, I've eaten at Noots (another local Thai place if you're unfamiliar with the area) and when I order the "Thai hot" option, it's always inconsistent. Thai Orchid nailed me so it'll be interesting to see if they're as consistent on my next visit! I recommend if you're in town and looking for...
Read moreThis is the "hidden gem" of Victoria.from the sounds of the orient that protrude forth from the inside to your arrival and departure, to the smell of curry 🍛 duck chicken soup and stunning Thai dishes that beat any I have tasted thus far here. The atmosphere is a nice relaxing and with a sense of tranquility yet, in another aspect a place with peace love family friends and fun. Somehow all of these emotions intertwined together perfectly here. The service is astounding the people great and the strangers seemingly not so strange here. Every face that enters gives a sense of wonder, enjoyment and a smile not too be expected from other places. Patience, stress free and a quiet sense of normalcy we could all use during this time is what you will feel here. When I am not there, I want to...
Read moreThis was our first time at the new location and everything was absolutely phenomenal! The owners (husband and wife) were incredibly kind, answered all questions and even told us menu items to try next time which we are looking forward to. The prices are so reasonable considering how much you get (it could feed a whole family!) He even told us he’d be getting green papayas this weekend so my husband and I can come back to try their papaya salad. We really enjoyed the music that was playing too, very nice cozy vibe. And all of this was 15 min before they closed, which we didn’t mean to come so close to close but they assured us there was no rush and stayed to let us enjoy our meal. 10/10 we can’t wait to come back! P.S. the boba...
