Outpost Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Village of Cottage Grove

Worst experience I've had in a LONG time. Came in with 2 young kids and my husband for dinner around 7pm. I've been in the restaurant business for 18 years...I REALLY get it when servers are busy running food, being double sat, etc. We patiently waited for the server to finally get to us. No problem for us, we get it.

While we looked at the menu and waited for the server to get back to us, (mind you, we were one of TWO tables inside - and the only ones eating), another table of two came and sat down. She went over, took their drink order, and on the way back stopped and got our food order. Great.

I can't tell you how long it was because I'm not a clock watcher - I know how long things should take. The two top that came in, what I would guess, 10 minutes AFTER we got there, got their food (in a reasonable time), ATE, finished their drinks, paid their bill, and LEFT....this is before we EVEN GOT OUR FOOD!!!!!!!!

That doesn't even account for the fries that were (first) forgotten with the rest of our food, (second) dropped on the floor, and had to be remade. The burger was burnt BLACK (literally, solid black charred) but just on ONE side, and super dry.

The cook was ACTUALLY the one that brought us our food to begin with. Extremely disappointing since we drove all the way from Stoughton just to try it. We will never go back there, and hope, for the sake of their business, that we just had a really REALLY unfortunate experience.

I have been here many times for food and drinks. Never had any issues. Tonight, one of the Cod dinners . First bite taste extremely fishy. I believe it was the owner or owners wife come over and asked If we wanted a cheeseburger or perch. No I wanted Cod. I told her I was not going to pay full price for a meal with 1 bite out of it. She did then take one cod dinner off the bill. Didn’t seem to happy about it though. Finally a establishment with personal employees, tasty edible food, reasonable prices, enjoyable atmosphere. We were on a 1200 mile road trip, through 3 different states. No other place had more than 2 out of the 4. It's extreamly difficult for management to jugel with the work force that is avalable for this nature of employment. We like to read revues prior to a viset. There's always a negative some where, the outpost is getting it...
