In all my time of living in the Germantown area there has never been a coffee shop like latitude. The food is yummy, the coffee is roasted in house and always fresh, and the staff are always friendly and appear to be always having fun. The prices are very decent for the quality of product that is served. All of the ingredients are fresh and cafe area is always clean when I walk in. If I’m in a hurry I can order online, my order is always ready for me when I order online and get there.
It pains me to see many bad reviews of this cafe. Most of the reviews are not even for the product that is served, it is for a giraffe decoration. It’s sad that the baristas that work there are mostly kids and their hard work is being overshadowed because some people don’t like a choice of decor. If you’re going to judge an establishment, you should judge it for the people working there and what they are serving and how they serve it.
When I come in for breakfast, I always go for the classic bacon breakfast sandwich. I was nervous about the mayo upon first eating the sandwich, but the mayo and the cheese work together to elevate the sandwich to the next level. When I feel like eating something else, my other go to is the shakshuka breakfast. It’s not a typical shakshuka dish, but it always hits the spot.
When I drink the coffee, my drink is the iced red eye, the notes of chocolate from the dark roast mixed with the cherry notes from the espresso always give me my coffee fix for the day. If I’m feeling like a different drink, I always go for the cappuccino. When I judge a coffee shop, I first judge them by their cappuccinos and latitude knows how to make a cappuccino. I just wish they served it in the traditional 8oz cup.
For lunch, I go for the bacon chicken panini with tomato and avocado added to it. Enough said
In my four years of frequently coming here, I’ve seen the staff change quite a bit. The staff at this point in time are some of my favorite baristas to ever serve me. Whenever I come in they greet me with smiling faces and happy attitudes. Which I think is a lot to ask for nowadays. Most of the staff are high school kids and high school graduates and they are trained to know what coffee is and how to serve it at a boutique level. To my knowledge, all of the baristas are trained to both cook and make coffee, so they have a lot expected out of them when it comes to...
Read moreI've driven past this coffee café for over two years. Even if I wasn't stopping at the stoplight Eastbound, I would glance and think, "someday, I'm going to take the time to stop and check it out."
Today was that day. My cinnamon latte was perfect and with some uneasiness natural to an unfamiliar place to eat, I added a breakfast bagel at the last minute. I had every intention of waiting until I got to the privacy of my office to eat the toasted Asiago bagel, with an egg, cheese and turkey. However, the aroma was too enticing and to my amazement, the chive, butter cream spread was intoxicating with every bite. O. M. G. FOR REAL.
I did not even care that the passing traffic stared in horror as I savored each bite while driving. I shocked myself as it's not a sight I approve of others when I see them eating and driving ("both hands on the wheel!!" I always recall my Driver's Ed teacher screaming at me in those moments). But there I was, hardly paying attention to my driving and thoroughly enjoying my breakfast sandwich. I am ashamed to admit, I even red-lighted a crossing. Thankful there was zero cross-traffic. But, still no justification for my exceedingly poor driving commute today.
But, in self defense. The combination of this latte and breakfast bagel were simply a work of art on my pallet.
The inside decor was not at all unappealing.. A mix of cozy comfort and industrial cleanliness. Several arrangements of seating clutches from one where a formal tea could be enjoyed, to a flop yourself on a really comfy leather couch and put your feet up (no, I did not put my feet up, but I REALLY wanted to!).
In leaving, I spotted what I will call The Tea Wall, filled with beautiful brass canisters of an array of loose teas along with, lo and behold, both a casual and formal tea set to use as guests. I could easily imagine our men's group sitting there discussing the topic of the meeting while imbibing on tea and crumpets.
All and all, I am so elated I finally made the time to stop in. I will definitely make this a stop in my future work commutes. I was so impressed with the quality and comfort of the service, I had to give this location my first 5 star...
Read moreI live pretty close to Latitudes and for years we take family walks (kids, dog, strollers, bikes, etc included) and stop there and get a coffee and enjoy it on their outside seating. I’ve never been a huge fan of their coffee but the experience of the outing was worth it. We stopped by for the first time since the remodel and I was disappointed to see that the patio is completely gated off and the only way to get there is by going inside. Which is not the easiest with kids in strollers and not even possible with a dog.
Then while my husband was inside ordering drinks, I was waiting outside (standing of course since I couldn’t get to the patio) a person who I’m assuming is the owner came out and very rudely told the lawn mower company to move their truck because people were having problems parking. I had been standing there a good 5 minutes and didn’t notice a single person having any issues parking. When I went back in later, this man was just sitting inside at a table drinking coffee staring outside. If he was the owner, it would’ve looked better to me as a paying customer if he was actually doing work instead of wasting his time complaining about somebody’s parking.
A little while later my husband went back to get a water and the dispenser was empty. He asked the supposed owner who gave him attitude and begrudgingly walked to the back to get him a Dixie cup of water. Maybe he could’ve been filling up the dispenser instead of looking out his window?
I’m writing this review in hopes that he reads this and to serve as a reminder that treating others with kindness and respect is a very important part to getting paying customers. Im sorry if you were just having a bad day and I hope it got better. But remodeling the building won’t help customers return as much as good customer...
