Sunshine Donuts — Restaurant in Vinita

This was such a disappointing stop! We recently learned that Daylight Donuts (which seems to go by the name Sunshine Donuts) in Vinita, Oklahoma, is ranked the #36 donut shop in the United States. Since donuts are always best as soon as a donut shop opens, we embarked on an adventure and drove the 2.5 hours from Oklahoma City at 2:30 a.m. to arrive in Vinita at 5:00 a.m., the alleged opening time.

Every indication online is that the store opens at 5:00 a.m. and the open sign was even displayed in the drive thru. There was definitely at least one employee inside walking around. But when we pulled up, nobody ever came to the drive-thru window to take our order. We tried the front door, but it was locked. I'm guessing the dining room opens for business later than 5:00 a.m., obviously.

Since no employee ever came to the window to take our order, our adventure was a huge bust. If you're passing through Vinita on I-44 and in the mood for donuts, I'd just skip this place altogether. They'll apparently sell you donuts only if they're...

So wonderful to have this shop in town. Friendly employees greet customers immediately upon entering. Creative options make it easy to shop for a variety of favorite donuts.
