I will start with the positives- the food. The food was excellent. It was not ordinary "bar food". We ordered the calamari appetizer which is one of the $5 happy hour specials. It was some of the best that I have ever eaten. It was a nice serving of tender tubes and tentacles with a light, crunchy batter. It is made with long, thin strands of crispy fried onion in the same batter. It's topped with a little cheese and a drizzle of sauce. It was very filling. The entrees we ordered were B&B burger and shrimp po boy sandwich. I had the shrimp po boy. It was a generous amount of yummy medium sized shrimp on a delicious soft long roll, with lettuce and bright red tomato. It came with a choice of side. I chose the french fries which were served hot and very crisp with a hint of crunchy batter on them. My friend said the burger was really good. I think it came with bacon and carmelized onions on it. The decor had a key west beachy vibe. The service provided by the two waitresses in the dining area was terrible. When we entered there was no one at the hostess stand. After a waiting several minutes the bartender yelled over "someone will be right with you." One of the waitress looked over and said "sit whereever you want." They weren't that busy. I would say the small dining room was about half full (maybe 6-7 tables) for two waitresses. We sat and waited and waited. No one ever even looked in our directions. We didn't have any menus. I finally went to the hostess stand and got two menus myself. Again, we waited and waited. I don't mind a reasonable wait if you are busy, just say something to us. Finally I went to the other side of the restaurant and gave the bartender our order. She happily took it and then sent over the waitress from the bar side, who was excellent. I didn't get her name but she was attentive and really nice. The food is excellent and I would probably go back but I would look for the waitress with the tats,...
Read moreThis is our favorite place to eat. It has been for many years and it is the secret of Chicks Beach. Times are tough and I’ve seen some negative reviews, so I wanted to clarify and rebuttal. This is the locals restaurant, we moved away and came back and it seamed different at first when we came back. With all the craziness of the world, the Green Parrot was a place I went weekly with my wife before marriage. It was our special spot and we had our table. We had our place. Time has changed the world recently and we came back, and couldn’t sit at a table, we couldn’t even get in at first. It was the first place I wanted to go, but we could hardly get in. I’ve called over the last few weeks instead of our usual walk in and just politely asked for what we wanted. Things not on the menu anymore, things we loved, and each time they have made them for me. Recreated amazing meals, like a friend, and I have been impressed beyond belief. I all I did was ask, I didn’t plead or beg, or get rude, I just asked for meals they used to make, and In 10 minutes they were there. They bent over backwards. This is truly the heart of Chicks Beach, it is the acceptable place for your family, for your first date, and a little latter on for your friends to unwind. It is affordable, the food is amazing, and if anyone had an issue here, it’s a misunderstanding, because it’s a gem. It is absolutely the best place to eat in Chicks Beach, but a Lamborghini and hundreds won’t get you...
Read moreI was so looking forward to them reopening. This was me and my mother's favorite local spot. I certainly expected the prices to go up once they did reopen but I didn't expect the food to suffer so greatly. I got the Philly cheesesteak which I used to love. It was a little sandwich put on a plate for $17.75 and not even a french fry or coleslaw on the side included. So I ordered a side of fries which used to be amazing and they changed those too. We ordered some Bang Bang Shrimp as an appetizer they were absolutely tiny shrimp and whoever cooked them couldn't even keep the batter on them served dripping in oil all the pieces of batter mushing in the bottom of the dish. My mother ordered the shrimp and there were nowhere near the quality of shrimp they used to have We left so sad and...
